I have decided to go back to Mnk, for the 1st time in 4 months. Im at lv 30, and im curious, on how the brown belt quest works...If this has been posted somewhere, im sorry, im new the forums
1) Brace yourself. You'll need a lot of time.
2) Make sure you get some buddies...the NMs aren't too tough, but still have their problems.
3) Complete Purple Belt quest.
Once those 3 key steps are done, find Molbolger's spawn time, and get him first. The other 2 are lottery pops
Quest starts in Port Bastok. The Tenshodo own one of the Warehouses. One of the members in the basement will give you the quest (you may have to complete 2 or 3 of the Iron Ore deliveries to another Tenshodo guy across from the Belt guy first).
You must defeat two NM and get items from them. You must fight Lumbering Lambert in La Theiene Plateau, and Rampaging Ram in Konsachant Highlands. You should be able to beat them at level 35 with no problems. They will drop their horns for you when they die. The giant rams in both areas are the placeholders and they both have a 1-3 hour pop time. You will usually have to deal with other Ram farmers and the area they can appear in is quite huge, so take a party or a RNG (or use a RNG sub).
Brown Belt Quest
Quest starts in Lower Jeuno Tenshodo (in the back of Neptune's Spire Inn, requires a Tenshodo invite to get back there). If you have the Purple Belt quest done (and some more Tenshodo fame from other quests) you will receive the Brown Belt quest. You must defeat 3 NMs this time, and they are much harder. I did this solo at 55 MNK, and I don't recommend doing it any earlier as they can be pretty dangerous. Hundred Fists will be needed for all 3.
First up is Deadly Dodo. He spawns every 1-3 hours in Sauromugue Champaign in the NE corner (the area that is lower than the rest of the map). There are 2 or 3 Cock spawns down on that ledge and they are placeholders for him. Basically I ran across him while meat farming on a daily basis. He has the lowest drop rate, seems to be about 40% of the time he will give his Dodo Skin. The only direct competition you should have is from other meat farmers.
Second is Nue. He is located in Beaudicine Glacier in the NW. There is a dead end with a hollow tree that has nothing there but a few tigers and goblins and it only has one entrance/exit (lots of sites should have the exact co-ordinates). Again, he spawns every 1-3 hours and has the tigers as his placeholders. Has about a 50% drop rate of his Nue Fang. You shouldn't have any competition for this guy at all though, so thats good.
Third is Molborger. Located in Ordelle's Caves, on the top floor (near the back exit with the Stroper Chyme area). There is a large square shaped room in the top hallway, this is where he spawns. He has a 21-24 hour timer though, which is the bad part. One important thing to know is that the Malboros in the room ARE NOT placeholders for him. If you have competition then don't waste time killing anything else. Once his time is up, he will simply pop. He is pretty big so its hard to miss him. His drop of Molborger Vine is 100%. The only "guaranteed" ways to know when he will appear is either talk to the person who killed it last, or show up 21 hours after the server has gone down. Thats how I got him. Logged in after maitenance, saw someone else killing it. Showed up the next day 21 hours later and he was all mine.
As for the Black Belt.....I wouldn't worry about that for a loooooong time. By the time you can use it you will likely know what you need to do to get it anyway.
EDIT: Rampaging Ram, not Battering Ram. Doh!

Probably just a typo but I think the NM's name in the Highlands is Rampaging Ram. Don't want anybody killing the regular Rams and wondering why they're not dropping the right horn :spin:
Also if by some chance their big brothers spawn (Steelfleece or Bloodtear) they drop the horn too. I wouldn't recommend trying to fight those with anything less than a 75 job, but when a group of people come along and kill it you could always ask for the horn. Good luck.
Yeah, my bad. I couldn't remember which one was the NM and what the regular Rams were called in the Highlands. Its been over a year since I myself did the Purple Belt quest.
Just completed the Brown belt quest yesterday :D I had to camp Molborger for 12 hours, and that wasn't the first time(First time, I camped for 16.5 hours straight). It finally spawned, and man was I happy haha. I don't recommend doing this unless you know a ToD or can do it after maintenence.
Also, all I've ever heard about Nue, was he has a VERY horrible drop rate, and some people consider him to be the worst of the 3. Yet I went to the Glacier to farm 2-3 days ago and killed him. Got the drop. Was also very pleased to see that heh. Was I just very very lucky, or are other people exagerating?
Nue has only one placeholder and he's lottery pop...making him an irritating camp. He's kinda a bad drop rate sadly. I'm STILL camping his butt to this day and still no luck
