Wow...these are astoundingly bad for a level 73 Cesti. Stay away. FAR AWAY. If they had a lower delay they may have been worth consideration.



When you get the latent off this weapon(which it wears after 500 weaponskills), this weapon is by far the best hand to hand weapon in the game DMG 5+18 Crit+6% and very low delay, nothing comes close to these.

Seems fishy. Any 60+ Monk could easily do 500 weaponskills in a single afternoon of just fighting everything you saw in Sauromugue.

Also, the damage would become 18, not 5 +18. Making them a solid choice in H2H for high levels, but nothing godly.

The rumor about the latents kicking in on those weapons after 500 weaponskills is still a rumor as far as I know. If it's true though, those are by far the best weapon in the game. Not godly, but that's some insane dps, and if the critical activated with asuran... wow. Not to mention you could stack on more +critical from merits...

I'd have to agree with Redlimit that it seems fishy at best. Knowing ffxi they'd activate only on fullmoon darksday before 12:00 while fighting lizards, or something.

If anyone can get their hands on these and test it out it would be much appreciated to comfirm/deny this.

Confirmed by a monk friend, the latent effect wears after 500 weapon skills on easy prey or higher level mobs.

Hmmm. Well I guess MNK have another high level alternative H2H then. Working out 500 WS on EP or higher mobs would take no time at all. Just take a friend or two into Kuftal and remove all of your +STR and +Attack gear and use low damage weapons (luckily Destroyers before latent are only +5 DAM) and just kill crabs as slowly as possible and use weak WS on them to prolong their deaths. In the case of MNK, use Shoulder Tackle.
At 75, I was able to get off 3 to 4 Shoulder Tackles on every crab I fought in this manner. Getting to 500 would only take a few hours with a partner who can heal as a main or sub.

This is very similar to working off the latents for the quest WS (this is actually exactly what I did, with my DRK friend as a duo to work off our latents). If you do it right, it takes no time at all. Make each mob last and get as many WS off on it as you can. The idea isn't to kill it fast, its to use as many WS as possible on it before it dies, then you get another one.

As a side note, what H2H class are the Destroyers? Cesti? Patas? Claws? Obviously since I don't play anymore I can't just go and check....
