No you're right - turns out I was mistaken about it. I went back to try it again and I never countered unless my shadows were gone. Sorry for the misinformation :sweat:

But like you said, never hurts to use it during blink so you can recast utsusemi.

i think what he said was true..
i have my counter gear of +8 so far once i hit 72 i'll equip my rasetsu samue +1...
but at the same time im using my SH so it takes off the -10 evasion of the cross counters...

counterstance really kicks in while having the right equip in hand..
but i havent tried the melee gaiters yet i got my eyes on these but im not sure about the percentage..seems too high ...

im setting my mind on the full counter gear with a subjob ninja for utsusemi spells and solo for some time hehe..

try using counterstance with this equip in ballista and go 1v1 against a monk that doesnt use this equipment..

then you'll have more respect for this ability

I had always heard that Counterstance was too risky to be worthwhile, but have recently rethought this. Wednesday and last night I duoed Groundskeepers in RuAun Gardens with a 75 MNK/THF (EM-VT at 75) or Aura Pots in Shring of RuAvitau(EM-IT-) as a WHM/SMN. Depending on our luck with Meltdown or spells (No Stun ) we generally could actually get chain XP off them (2-3). Without counterstance, each doll ate through 900-1100 MP; with counterstance that amount dropped to 500-600, and came with a much faster kill rate. Dolls and pots are some of the nastiest mobs in the game. Now, Im not recommending this as I dont want anyone coming back to me bitching because they tried it and got killed, but I was rather impressed by the effectiveness of CS even against ~VT mobs--the process rate of counter is very high.
