  • 52-54 exp off Fallen Major/Mage?

I was complaining about the amount of crabs I would have to face in the near future while I exp and one of the high levels in my Link Shell suggested taking on Fallen Major and Fallen Mages in Garlaige Citadel. According to the info in Mystery Tour these are about the same level as the Robber Crabs that everyone exp off at this level. And they drop Coffer keys as an added advantage.

Would it be possible to exp off them in Garlaige Citadel? I'm only concerned about our camp spot and other Skeletons aggroing by low health in case things get bad.

So far the best PT setup I can think off is
    MNK
    MNK
    PLD
    RDM
    WHM
    BLM

2 MNKs on bones would be like 2 RNGs on Crabs I guess. (I once hit Raging Fists for 0 on a crab in Kuftal Tunnel ><)

PLD would tank and occasionally give the WS to start Fusion.

RDM would fight, dispel and refresh. Possibly helping with Fusion too, if they still use Swords at this level. (I don't know much about RDMs)

WHM is the dedicated healer to make sure none of us drop low enough to aggro by health and possibly MB with light.

BLM would be useful in handling links and MB with fire/light and maybe even backup healing in bad situations.

So What do you guys think? I'm just excited over this because I feel a bit uncomfortable with other ppl out damaging me in parties. I mean I parsed my fights in Kuftal Tunnel and my punches hit for 0 like 20 times in 5k exp. Its only 52-54 so I guess I have to go back to crabs later

when i went in a Eld coffer run i brought my Monk friend to help he did Sneak attack +Rageing Fist for more then anyone else was doing there, monks are great for undead i am guessing cause there fist are counted as a blunt weapon(go figure), you shouldnt really worry about being out damaged when fighting there, our monk wasnt.
People look at the world and think why, i look at the world and think why not.

I went on a garlaige citadel coffer hunt recently with a single pt of 55-56's

As mnk, I was dealing 300-600+ on SA raging fists (thf sub for Treasure Hunter), and punches were doing very good damage as well. Fallen mages/majors gave anywhere from 70-130 xp not including chain bonuses, so a 52-54 pt should get very good xp. They are a bit tough, but with preparation, it should work out well.

Pre-Sidewinder (So from like lv50-55) if you can fight bones get a RNG, have him use Bodkin Arrow (doesn't take penalty to bones.) You can do Flaming Arrow > Raging. This would probably work nicely.

Oh and RNG are strong vs flying not crabs ^^.

Thanks for the response. I'll hopefully be able to try it out soon and find if its a winning formula.

I only assumed that RNGs were strong against crabs coz the 2 RNGs in my PT did an average of 1000-1200 dmg on crabs each while me and the dragoon did between 400-600 each. My bad. m(_ _)m

I went from lvl 52-54 in a day (in, hell, just a couple hours really) with a JP party. If all your party members know what they're doing, its awesome exp.

Well any RNG who is out damaged by another melee should just quit the job. The reason there was such a huge difference though was probably because when the Crab's use their major def buff (atleast once per fight) every melee hit's for like 0-5 dmg, whereas ranged attacks are usually cut in half and you end up doing 50-60 dmg per shot.

                Bah just tried it out.
Party setup was MNK, DRK, PLD, RDM, BRD, WHM
                Levels ranged from 50-53

Exp wise this wasn't so great or maybe we just fought in the area where the low levels Fallen were. Exp was ranging from 150 to the odd 196 (not counting chains)

We camped at the northwest tunnel at the caves after first drop. Anyone know any other good locations?

Although we were there for half an hour i still couldn't convince my PT to go for Red Lotus Blade > Raging Fists SC. ><

When finally the PLD agreed I got disconnected from the server. Apparently I didn't settle some payments to my ISP >.>

                Oh joy...
