Hume Monk?

I wanna be a human monk(first character) but is that a bad idea? i hear galka and elvaan are better monks, if i pick human will i be weaker than them, i wanna play hume but i don't wanna play a weak character, will people pick a galka or elvaan monk over human when it comes to partying? can anyone show me subless stats at lvl 75(or whatever the cap is). and if anyone has any pics of each race as a monk(lol) thanks.

Just be what you want to be. You'll have more fun being the race you want, other than something you've heard about. And since it's a game, fun should be a high priority.

If it bothers you, then no, Hume monks aren't weak. Besides, if you really want to worry about stats (which you shouldn't), any problem can be fixed with the right equipment.

I'm a Hume MNK. I hear all that too and to a certain extent it might be true. We only have few stats better than them but those stats don't matter much to a monk. Does it deter me? Not at all.

So far I've had no problems at all. Maybe at 70+ the stat difference might come back to haunt me. You probably would want to hear from our high levels on that matter tho, as I would.

Hume Monks are in no way too weak to do Monk effectively. I chose to be a Taru Monk, and I knew that Taru were the worst race for a Monk you could choose, which is why I did it. I wanted to try and prove that any race can do any job effectively if the person playing knows what they are doing. Here I am, level 64, and I get complimented from other Monks I party with or know, or even non-Monks that I do more damage than others. It all depends on how you play, and just remember to have fun. The whole point of this game is to have fun.

Your right! And i praise you for playing taru for the fact alone that they are sapposedly weaker, to prove a point.

They aren't "Supposedly weaker" They are weaker. But again like Mr. Spork I do it for 3 reasons, I don't enjoy watching the ass of an elvaan, I want to show that any race can do a Job effectively, and show some of my Monk Friends I can outdamage them

The hume-galka-elvaan race differences are very small even at level 75. I think hume is same dex and 2 less str at 75 compared to galka, which is meaningless if you want to look like a human. Mithra should be good too, just use gigas-type bracelets if you want to become more like the other races. Taru will be a little weaker, but to compensate you will look awesome.

as a hume you'll be fine. like panda said with the exception of tarutaru, there isn't a really huge difference in most of the races at 75.

My wife plays a Hume MNK and is currently 63. People constantly compliment how amazing her damage is. (Even when fighting non-bones mobs. Our last PT was Vs. cockatrice in Terrigan and the RNG commented that he thought she might be outdamaging HIM.) Yes, Galka and Elvaan are better, but hume monk is very sucessful as well. I just suggest keeping up with top-notch gear or you will regret it. (As with any job really.)

Though I haven't attained anything higher than my lvl 30 yet, I am a hume female mnk, and I think it's great. Of course I'm going to get my extra jobs, and toy around w/those for awhile .... but I still plan on carrying on w/MNK all the way. I love being a hume, too. The stat difference wasn't enough to deter me from doing exactly what I wanted to do, and have fun doing it... it should be the same way for you. Just play the way you want to. If nothing else, it should be a challenge for you to overcome :D

not to be rude or anything >.> but please!! level that sub demesne. I run after half the <40 mnks asking them to level their sub coz they'll just give a bad name to monks and probably even make the hume vs other races difference seem like something major ><

lol --- I don't think you are being rude. I really do need to lvl my sub. You're right. I was just concentrating sooo much on getting 30 for my DRK, which I finally obtained. (Yay) Since I do plan on taking MNK all the way, and plan on using the same combination of subs for both MNK and DRK, I will be lvling WAR, and THF both as soon as some of the excitement from getting the "extra jobs" wears off. Anyway, I appreciate the friendly advice.

I HAVE TAKEN DRK TO LV 55 AND BLM TO 45 AND SAM TO 20 AND I HAVE MNK AT 13. I AM RECENTLY DECIDING TO GO BACK TO MNK ,AS I HAVE WATCHED OTHER MNK'S LATELY AND HAVE THE DESIRE TO LV IT ONCE MORE.

AS A BLM I GET COMPLIMENTED ON HOW I DO, EVEN BY TARUS WHICH IS A GREAT COMPLIMENT.

HUME IS THE MOST WELL ROUNDED RACE WITH BALANCE WHICH IS THE KEY.

IF YOU WANNA PLAY HUME MNK THEN DO SO. I HAVE A LV 55 HUME MNK IN MY LS WHO DOES AWESOME DMG.
