HI, I've been bugging out a lot of the job boards here about all my friends in the game, but I just can't help it. I'm far more curious about each and every class that's here, than them so I will ask again, kindly to every monk that's in this forum to answer this for me. Ok, first i'll outline to you my friend, and as to why he's having this problem.

First, off he's level 43, subbing War, has 2 dex rings, a Jujitsu Gi, Combat casters gloves, Windurstian Kyahans, Jujitsu Sitabaki, Spike Necklace, 2 beetle earrings, Wolf mantle +1, and atm Sword belt (trying to finish purple). Ok besides the fact that he doesn't have both Purple/Brown and a Fuma Kyahan, he's wondering why his attacking too slow even with a Hitmantes +1. If there an actual definite answer to this or is it just cause he doesn't have both of his Haste items that it's making him really slow. Because he told me that he made a transition from Impact knucks to Hitmantes +1 and he said he doesn't see any difference in his attack pattern (speed etc.). Also, this is just from me personally, is it normal to wait for invites for at least 2 hours at this level for you guys?? Cause i'm still surprised as to why he's not getting invited into parties more often.

MNK actually have quite a high delay inbetween attacks until they get their final H2H delay reduction (I think its 61, correct me if I am wrong).

Remember that weapon delay is added to a MNK's natural H2H delay. Most MNK are in the 350-500 delay range depending on equipment.

i have not used himantes. i went from impact knuckles to mythril +1's at level 40.

i do not have the fuma kyahan yet, but i do have purple belt, which i have had since level 20.

i dont have much experience waiting for party invites either, since i am fortunate enough to level with a static party of linkshell friends.
however, i have heard many monks lament the fact that they often wait a very long time to get invited.

when forming a party, we monks are vying for one of the damage dealer spots, which can also be filled by a competent dark knight, ranger, samurai, etc.
they often get chosen first, because of the fact that there is a perception among many people that "advanced" jobs are "better".

because of this prejudice, we monks have to often make sure that we are doing our best to have the best equipment possible for our level.
around level 40 this becomes crucial, as there is a de-facto standard of what a monk's best gear is, and those who don't have it will often be looked down upon or disregarded.

sadly, one of the main items in this "standard" are the Ochiudo's Kote, the pretty red gloves of monk/samurai/ninja.
they are troublesome to quest for, since it involves camping a NM and competing with many people for it.
they are expensive to purchase; i paid 525k for mine.

their main desireable attribute is a +20 attack bonus.
they are arguably a luxury item, and it would be wrong to insist that if you dont have them, you arent a good monk.
however, sometimes people think this way, because they dont know any better.
appearances do a lot for a person.
to have the appearance that he takes his job as seriously as possible, and thus will be percieved as a "good monk", he really ought to consider obtaining the Kote.


at his level, he'll already know what the expected standard gear is for his level. if he were able to farm up enough money for all of it, he should *hopefully* have an easier time getting a party (though that is not guaranteed).

as for the delay issue, i really dont know.
i still attack faster than anyone else who isnt a monk.

tell em to buy the purple belt, it's cheap

but even wif fumas and purple belt added haste you wont see much of a difference

delay between +40ish and +90ish are hardly noticeable (unless you are parsing wif another monk, you'll see the other monk attack slightly faster, like 0.3 secs faster) so i would suggest just go for the higher dmg weapons

sidenote: it's probably a good time to buy some str rings and a sniper

1. DEX rings SUCK. Either get Sniper rings or stick with STR rings.

2. Combat Casters gloves are junk. Battle gloves (+3 ACC) are much better than +5 ATK, and the Battle gloves are dirt cheap as well.

3. With weapons you want the highest DMG possible - Monk fists are low damage as is, which is a big penalty against higher defence (IT) mobs.

4. Depending on what time of day you log on, you can get invites immediately or never get one for days... The reason he's probably not getting invites is because his equipment is sub-par, possibly using a bad search comment, logging on at the wrong time, etc...
