  • Monk Af Boots

I finally hit 50+, so I thought I'd try my AF boot quest, since I have to do it before any others. have the AF weapon quest completed and accepted boots quest. What I need to know is, do I go to Fei'Yin and fight anythingthere? Or is it just a cut-scene at the burning circle? Thanks in advance

You go past a cermet door into the BC area, and then come back out, and get cut-scene. No fight required for the Fei'Yin portion.

        AF boots.

Then if/when you can get them KungFu Shoes their +1 ver. Wulong Boots then if you get in an HNM LS try for some Dune Boots.

(good luck with that...ppl don't like to fight (H)NM Cactuars, and who can blame new. 10,000 needles.

As far as the Kung Fu / Wulong....these are obscenely expensive to modify something that triggers perhaps one out of every 10 rounds (and roughly doubles the damage, assuming you have the most up-to-date pair of boots). I mean, numbers wise, I probably double attack like 3-4 out of every 10 rounds.

So, in total, in ten rounds I'm getting in 20 attacks base, let's say four more attacks from double attack, and one more attack from kick. Kick normally does about half the damage of a regular attack, for me, so throw on say, kung fu boots, and it now does the damage of a regular attack. So I've basically gone from 24.5 attacks per 10 rounds to 25 attacks per 10 rounds, an improvement of around 2% total damage.

Seems to be the very definition of "luxury item," until kung fu / wu long boots are priced at around the same as fuma kyahan, I don't think I'll be getting a pair.

This is assuming, of course, that the frequency of kick attacks doesn't increase as you level. If there is actually some sort of innate upgrade to the job trait at like 61 and 71, so that it's firing say...1/4 of the time by level 75, these boots would be something I'm more interested in.

I wear AF boots for now. Fumas aren't really worthwhile on their own, only coupled with brown belt (or better), imho.

FYI at 71 Monk get effectively "Kick Attacks" II. It says "Improve Kick Attack Ability". Whether that mean more kicks...or harder kicks, I do not know. But we DO get it at 71...(and I wondered why a (at the time) 73 MNK kicked harder and more frequently...(with AF boots even).

                way i always looked at it's 3% haste = 3% more damage....
combined with 8% haste belt, 11% haste = 11% more damage, wearing brown belt you need snipers for acc, and beyond that it's how much str/atk u can pile up... way i look at how i should equip myself

Just posting on Dune Boots. I killed the NM a while back was pretty easy. The one thing you have to worry about is when it nears death it starts spamming to hell with 1000 needles (10,000 needles is only on Cactuar Rapido I belive).

Cactuar Ballinaia (or something like that) is nowhere near a HNM. Has XP group like Damage output (untill 1000 needles spam starts), personally we killed her with 10 level 70's pretty darn easily, althought I would not reccomend going with 1 group purely for the needles reason, more people = damage spread out more = good.
