How rare is Exocets

For those who have camped him, how rare is his drop? I am currently 0/11 and starting to get annoying -_-; For those who doesn't know this weapon here is the info:

Location of NM:
Sea Serpent Grotto, past silver beast coin door J-10 area.

Name of NM:
Qull the Shellbuster (monk type)

Not recommendable going for those who are below 50. Loads of sahagins, pugils and crabs around this area. I am still camping him with my lvl 70rdm.

My monk is now 47 so I don't know if I should keep camping him or simply wait till 48 for Patas+1...

Heh I had quite a few adventures camping Qull.

It took me 9 kills to get Exocets (and on the 9th run I brought a THF with TH2 along ).

His camp is decent, and you can make a lot of money in this area, but I never really worked out just what Sahgin you have to kill to get him to pop...I just killed everything in the area and he would show up from time to time. Anything from 30 minutes to 6 hours sometimes.

From the 42 - 48 range they are the best H2H weapon, bar none. After that sadly they are mostly for show (they look nice, blue and gold).

I did this mostly as a 55 MNK. Qull battles would be fairly epic at this level, and I don't reccommend it heh. 60+ is a better option.

could a 54 monk and a 52 whm camp this? or still be too hard

As long as you have help from someone who can heal you should be ok. Be warned that links are very easy to get in this camp, and Qull has a LOT of HP. Hundred Fists at level 56 would only take away 1/3 of his HP.

from my experience, i dont think Quill and the other NM behind silver door (for mermaid tail) have placeholders.

they seem to be around 6 hour spawns and seperate from any other fish in their spawn area.

Got the weapon after 15th kill. Only to stay at bank when my mnk lvled 50.

Safest place to camp is where the treasure chest spawns, where you see a torch. Only one mob will spawn there, usually a brd class sahagin. You have basically 1 pugil, 1 crab, and about 4 sahagins at Qull's spawning place. Usually 1 dragoon type 2 whm type and 1 brd type. Monster lvls are 41~48.

Redlimit sais the truth, Qull has some incredibly high hps. The only savior is out of 15 times I beat him, he never ever used 100 fists despite the fact that he is a monk type monster.

P.S. Qull usually poped from 1.5~3hours range. I never waited more. Whm shg dropped regenII once. And dragoon sahagin dropped a wierd quest item.

The quest item the Brook Saghain drop is for Mermaids Ring quest:

On Windsday, Peddlesox (NPC Goblin) pops in the jungle outside Kazham, near the hole where you drop to go to Yhotar. You need to collect 4 Mermaid parts and trade them to him. He will then give you a key item treasure map and mark a point on your map where a treasure is buried. You can get many things from the treasure when you dig it up with a pickaxe including Mermaids Rong (lvl43, +2 emnity). The ring sells for 500k+ on my server but it is not a definate that you will get it (I didnt get it after all this work collecting parts /cry)

The 4 parts you need drop from:

Mermaid Tail: (F-7) Sea Serpent Grotto - Seww the Squidlimbed
Mermaid Head: Sea Serpent Grotto - Brook Sahagin
Mermaid Body: Sea Serpent Grotto - Spring Sahagin
Mermaid Hands: Yuhtunga Jungle - Creek Sahagin

been camping this NM for a few days for when my monk hits the right level. 1st day camped for 3 hrs, no pop, went AFK, popped and aggroed me, but someone came by and killed it -_-;

2nd day camped 8hrs straight killing all Placeholders... wth... no pop

3rd day Lv 70+ mnk is ther camping it when i come, so i post up knowing that i probably wouldnt get the pull if it popped. He was mnk/whm and i was thf/nin... anyways, about an hour and a half passes and he takes off... then it pops! Oddly enough I had just killed the four placeholders so i dont think he pops based on sahagin killed in the area. Anyways,, drops Exocets on first kill

i got aggroed by him while i was searching for the chest, killed him as a whm67thf/33 and got the drop on the first try ^^

Well it surely have a nice looking. More like a trophy than anything. But at 46 it was indeed the best H2H waepon.

exocets look just like regular claws except they are blue and gold:

Seww the Squidlimbed spawns every time I go there after killing the orange sahagin placeholders. He has a 1 hr respawn if I'm not mistaken, and always spawns from a placeholder every time I have gone to get the mermaid piece.


I had a THF and WHM friend with me when we killed Qull, got the drop the first time. So it's random as far as I know.
