  • 1 H2H Weapon in Each Hand

Just realized that Monk's H2H weapon uses up only 1 slot in the weapon equipment while in actuality it is 2 pieces of equipment.

Was it not different in past final fantasies? Was it not true that a Monk had to buy two weapons to equip each hand?

The reason I am saying this is I think it would be a cool idea to buy H2H weapons 1 hand at a time. This way, there would be 2 stats on our weapons. +1 str and +1 str? +3 acc and +1 str?

You see where I am going with this?

    Melee:
    43 Monk; 25 Warrior; 20 Theif; 10 Dragoon; 11 Dark Knight; 7 Ninja.

    Mage:
55 Red Mage; 32 Black Mage; 27 White Mage.

Oh! I see what the hell you're talking about, you wanna buy grapples one at a time. Well, you'd be buying the best available for your level and stat situation, so they'd be in pairs anyway, ne? Only situation I could see this being interesting in would be with stat effects, a blinding grapple in one hand and a silencing one in the other? still, umm... no.

Hehe, or have one knuckle and one shield. Hit with both?

You know.. I am surprized at your reaction Rei. Why not? You say that you understand the concept, and yes buying different knuckles to equip in each hand IS the idea that I was trying to get at, but why not?

You got a reason for your stand? I mean, yeah people might buy 2 of the same if they need a certain stat (like +1 str on the Impact Knuckles), but why are you objecting to them having a choice of doing so or not? Maybe someone needs only something to silence, and needs some STR >> different grapples. No? why?

lets see some meat in this discussion. I must say that I never expected your reaction. Interesting...

Personally, I think that's a friggin awesome idea. It'd be so cool to see a left handed Cesti and a right handed Pata... It just adds more versatility to the class... something else to look forward to. You could mix stat bonuses for balance... wow, I really like that idea. Even if it were only with a NIN sub it'd be something fun to mess around with.

While it would be nice to be able to mix and match (imagine something like shiva's claws / cross-counters), it's just not the way the game is designed. Our weapons are balanced they way they are, for the most part. Also, if we held a claw in each hand, then we wouldn't be able to hit 5 times in one round with warrior sub!! (Because double attack is only checked on the primary hand).

It's a nice thought, but still...it's not something that it's even remotely possible for Square to change, as it'd require a complete overhaul of monk weaponry, base fist delay, etc...stuff I'd rather they not mess around with (and invariably, screw up).

lol modnar, sorry I surprised you. I can only see a few isolated situations where this would be useful. usually you want the highest damage, acc+, att+, etc at your level. The solution to that usually comes pretty specifically in one weapon. I'd be worried that this would be just another way for people to screw themselves up, but having said that , I'm all for customization and personal choice.

You convinced me. I'm not opposed to the idea at all, sounds kinda neat. I'd be concerned about Rare knuckles though, you can only have one Rare item at a time. Would you not be able to get two?

You can actually use hand-to-hand and a shield at the same time. If you equip a shield and nothing in your other hand, you'll use hand-to-hand skill, but only punch once instead of twice.
                Everyday is without surprises.... !?

Monks would be like damage-oriented ninjas then.

You could be a ninja, if you want.

well let damage and delay be the same for the weapon but cut the stats like +2 strngth to +1 strngth.

So if you could use a Claw +1 and a tropical punch+1... I smell power punches in WS with deadly accuracy...

If they actually did that to monk and the price of all H2H weapons are kept the same (assuming the Eastern Shadow drops 1 weapon at a time)... I smell pain in the neck paying double price for cross counter >_< as well as every other weapons.
