Lvl 9 newbie player needs armor advice.

I just started playing a couple of days ago and I just recently made lvl 9. The problem is, I am still wearing the clothing that I started with and I'm starting to take alot of damage. I have about 9,000 gil right now from selling crystals at the AH. But I get so confused when I look at all the armor/weapon options. At my level, what armor/weapons/items should I be looking to get right now that may help me in the next couple of levels to come. Thanks.

Imo, the level 8 set. Hachimaki(head), Kenpogi(body), Tekko(hands), Sitabaki(legs), and Kyahan(feet)

Dont know where you started, but this set up is very cheap in Windurst, like 300g per piece.
