So a friend of mine just quit...

...and gave me all of his gear, cash, and sellable items. When the dust settles, I'm expecting to have somewhere around 1.6 million gil. The question is, what to do with it...

Here's my current gear, at level 51:

Weapon: T.M. Hooks
Ammo: Happy Egg
Head: Carapace Mask +1
Neck: Spike Necklace
Ears: Beetle Earring +1 x2
Body: Jujitsu Gi
Hands: Ochiudo's Kote
Rings: Courage Ring x2
Back: Ram Mantle +1
Waist: Life Belt
Legs: Shinobi Hakama
Feet: Fuma Kyahan

Alternate Gear: Phalanx Ring x2 (for use with Defender), Justice Badge (for use with Chi Blast)

Now, my dilemma: 1.6 million gil is just about right on the dot for the price of Cross Counters on Titan. I figure I could blow my wad on this, and be doing pretty well, all things considered. However, this would leave me with insufficient cash for things like Master's Gi/Sitabaki, Sun Rings, etc.

On the other hand, I could take the road more traveled and get Sniper's Rings, and Spartan Cesti later on down the road. However, Sniper's Rings will put me at something like 150 defense unbuffed; I'm worried that I'd have to change my name from Ungerpurr to Ungerpureé if I ever got aggro. Also, being mithra, my STR rating rather sucks; I'd rather not lose any more (lost 5 str switching from Brown Belt to Life Belt). I could also back to brown belt (it still hasn't sold) AND get sniper's rings, but that seems to me to be a waste of cash.

Buying the sniper rings and spartan cesti would be like the smart thing and all but when something like this happens (basically finding a ton of money) you just gotta say what the fuck and blow it on something big which in this case would be the cross-counters.

i'd buy one sniper, use the brown belt and get a sun ring. or.. u can buy both snipers, and sun rings and alternate when you are having trouble hitting. weapons... i do not know as for i am a drk. i wish drk can get brown belt

I vote for the Big-ticket item.
Take the opportunity handed you, buy CC.
Your equip is evidence that you know how to farm, so farm over the next 10 levels for snipers. They're just gonna get equip macro'd anyway. As I understand it, shit doesn't become unhittable for a while now...
And its not like there's much else on your shopping list in the near future. If you really want masters gear before AF, jujitsu should be almost an even trade. At least, it was on ragnarok when I checked it.

MNK's and Snipers......well, MNK do not need to rely on them thank god. With Life Belt and the +5 Acc from AF Cyclas I have no trouble even Coeruls in Onzozo, or Raptors in Terrigan. Against everything else I have been able to use Brown Belt fine.

I would stick with the Sun Rings, especially since you are a Mithra and need all the +STR you can get.

So, if you want to spend the cash on Cross-Counters, go for it. Weapon progression without them goes something like this:

50 - TM Hooks
56 - Bone Patas +1
58 - Spartan Cesti
65 - Shiva Claws
66 - Feral Fangs / Stun Jahmadar

Cross-Counters eliminates the need for all of these except Shiva Claws (and maybe Stuns for certain mobs).
