Best Race for monk?

dont exactly like the low str of a mithra but i also dont like the low dex of a elvan so it goes both ways. i cant really see a major problem with a galka monk exept i would like to play one(i'm saying i dont like galkas they pretty cool but i dont think i can play one 24/7 same with the cute tarus).
but its possible to over come the race barrier with equipment if ur a mithra concentrate on str gear, if ur an elvan consentrate on dex, if ur a trau taru..... uh good luck :sweat:

I am a Mithra monk and STR is not really a big problem for me right now. In fact, most of the time in parties I have more str than Elvaan melee because they will most likely be using +2 Dex rings as well as other DEX equipment.

As of now, I have 50 + 26STR with food, giving me a total of 76 a mithra. Accuracy is not a problem for me yet, I have +9Acc from Jujitsu and 1 sniper ring. I am taking a dex penalty from Enkelados Bracelets, so I have 62+1dex, which is still pretty decent

Back to topic, it's a matter of preference. I've seen Taru monks who are 75. So it's doable, just get good equipment. =)

There is only one "bad" choice for monk (not bad as in galka blm bad, but bad as in elvaan whm bad), and that would be tarutaru.

Personally I would say Galka and Elvaan are nearly tied for the best monk race, galka perhaps with a slight edge, if anything. Mithra and hume are also fairly much tied, and not far behind galka/elvaan.

*Galka have crappy Agi, they have normal Dex (same as hume and tarutaru). Kinda wierd that everyone always assumes they've got bad dex.


From a pure combat stand point, Galka and Elvaan come out on top with only a difference of 3 respectively in Str and Dex

back to the chi blast and MND question. Would elvaan mnk be able to pull off a MUCH better one than Galkas?

And by the way, taru monks get a cool backflip when they do asurian fists

play taru if you rather have fun at a game (why we all choose to here in the first place) instead of counting numbers (like school where we are all forced to go)

yes.. there's a difference, i've partied with a galka monk before, while waiting on downtime we were boosting and getting ready to do chi blast, we had the same amount of boosts (bout 7) while my chi blast did 210, his chi blast only did 180. I'm a elvaan btw.

FYI, the guy who did the Stat Calculator discontinued the project b/c all his post 60 stats were incorrect. Also I don't believe those stats take in consideration what subjob you might have on.

still even with out the subjobs it gives u an idea of the proportions. i personally dont think galka, hume and taru taru have the same dex, i think would be unbalanced have the glaka have decent dex, str, and rediculous vit. i also think mithras might have a bit too much dex(10 more than all the other races and 12 more than an elvan )

Well, I also have a Mithra MNK along side my WHM ...

Anyways, I like Mithra best (IMO) because I absolutly HATE missing! OMG, it drives me nuts!

But Galka's do have their advantage's. High HP, VIT, STR (less STR than Elvaan, though) but they miss sometimes ><

Between a Hume and Mithra, Mithra is a better MNK.

Just by numberssame lvl 59 and job MNK/WAR)

Mithra:
Level HP MP STR DEX VIT AGI INT MND CHR

Hume:
Level HP MP STR DEX VIT AGI INT MND CHR
59 1250 0 59 60 63 46 40 50 48

For Monk, STR DEX VIT AGI are important.

Mithra has +11 DEX, +7 AGI over Hume.
Hume has +3 STR, +3 VIT over Mithra.

Mithra can easily equip gear to make up the difference. Hume... not so easy.

IMO Galka,Hume,Elvaan,Mirtha,Taru.

I'd be interested in seeing a Elv monk with 2 snipers, I think that has some potential. But the slightly less Dex then hume and galka is a bit misleading, because Elv of other classes that I've seen miss more then their counterparts of other races, by alot more then a 4 dex would show.

Not sure what stat calculator you are all using but here's some stat comparision that you can actually count on. Lvl 70 Monk subjobless ( Aka Maat BCNM )

Galka- Str~62 / Dex~62 / Vit~78 / Agi~42
Hume- Str~58 / Dex~62 / Vit~66 / Agi~ 46
Elv. - Str~66 / Dex~58 / Vit~70 / Agi~38

Taru - Str~50 / Dex~62 / Vit~62 / Agi~50

It all ends up being what you wanna be looking at for the time you play your Monk. A starved rock singer Elvaan, midget with claws Taru, cat girl that everyone tries to be hit on Mithra, fat guy whith little legs Galka, or yourself...Hume...and we already know your ugly.

Galka and Elvaan are probably the best.

Mithra and Hume are pretty good, maybe lacking in a few things but nothing equips can't cure. I doubt what race of Monk is gonna bother a party recruiter to much, aside from Taru.

Taru is a fun choice, doable with money and time, but if your easilly frustrated its not the road to go down. If you choose Taru I can imagine you'd be looked over a bit then the other races, you'd have to show your strength and that could be very annoying when you invested alot of work.
