Ok, MNK/WAR has been pretty straightforward and good for me so far DMG wise and I LVed it to 30~ish. But, after reading through some threads, I have become a little discouraged or better said, confused. Is a versatile MNK supposed to have SAM and THF options for SJ's ready also to spam WS's or use SA/TA + Dragon Kick? Or will /WAR be my ticket to victory lane throughout the game? Any suggestions are welcome.

From what i gather thf sub is very useful when you fight bones and end the sc with dragon kick but if your party has 2 mnks and are doing the chain RLB > Raging Fists > Dragon Kick you can do the raging fists without the trickattack i suppose so you dont have to level thf but It's good and as for sam i don't really see anyone over LV60 actually say its good but i levelled my sam to 30 for fun but havent been in a pt since actually so havent tried it but spamming ws is overrated if you ask me, the real damage comes from sc and MB so spamming raging fists all the time will lead to aggro problems more so then anything good i think well anyway I'm only 61 and havent fough bones but i thought you might wanna hear my opinion anywayMNK75,WAR44,WHM37,THF37,NIN37,SAM31,BLM21,PLD26,RNG10,BST16

Dragon Kick does fine for me against bones with out SA+TA... usually hits for around 500-800. Plus it's not all about skillchains.. people get too caught up in that sometimes.. the amount of addiditional damage you do with Berserk and Double Attack should not be overlooked. Plus you don't mess up the PLD's hate by having to trick onto someone.
It's nice to be versatile with THF sub but I am happy with my role and my damage as a war sub.. but by all means go with /thf if you think it'll help.
SAM sub is a no no against bones.. you don't wanna be spamming WS unless you plan on having your PLD be a bench player as you take all the damage. It's hard enough for PLDs to keep hate off us without us going crazy with WSs.MNK75/RDM75/WAR37/DRK37/BLM37/NIN37

Most /thf subbers just use Trick attack and stand behind the tank and do their WS, leaving out the sneak attack portion (although fuidama would probably do more damage). This way they dont have to do it behind the mob on somemone else, rather they stand behind the tank and put their 500-800 damage directly into him.

having a variety of subs never hurts, most mnks sub either thf or war
a party of 2 mnks (1 sub war and 1 sub thf) wif pld is ideal for bone crushings
usually during these parties the war subbed mnk will most definitely be 2nd on the hate list of the monster. so what you do is position yourself across the pld, when tp is ready, let the pld fire off rlb, then provoke it towards you(do warcry if provoke fails or any job ablity to get the monster's attention), do raging or howling, the monster will definitely face towards you and then the thf sub mnk will trick and sneak on the pld, bam 600 dragon 1000 light chain, 1200 firaga3, dead skeleton.

u can forget about SAM, but u will need THF. if u think "hey, when i fight skeletons and get 2 MNK's in a party, he/she'll sub THF so i don't have to worry about it" and what if another MNK thinks the same? ur party won't get Sneak/Trick. it's better, though no one could ever require u to, to have THF sub up to lvl.

500-800 dmg w/ Trick only is too optimistic, even against skeletons. i'd say it's about 300-600. of course, the amount of TP will make difference, but still, considering the usual circumstances, not that high. not to mention u could possibly hit only once if u don't use Sneak, especially while u r blinded. (remember, even though the description doesn't say so, Dragon Kick is technically a 2-hit WS, as w/ any other non-multihit H2H WS', while use of Sneak will make it 100% 2-hit.)
while fighting skeletons in Gustav, it's usually the case that we do RLB->Howling (or Raging) Fists->Dragon Kick renkei, and MNK w/ WAR sub takes a target, so that one w/ THF sub can Sneak/Trick/Dragon Kick onto PLD. however, it's sometimes a case that mob stays to PLD and use of Sneak won't be possible from PLD's behind. in this case, using only Trick is one option, but when this is true, it's usually the case that the mob is also half-dead. and in that case, it's usually better to do Dragon Kick from another MNK's back, using only the Sneak. why? coz doing that will finish the mob, and even though mob stays alive, w/ little HP left that BLM's MB will finish it out anyways. whereas, if u go Trick-only Dragon Kick, renkei+MB may not take him out, and we gonna have to deal w/ him for another 10-20 seconds.
when i was 67-69, my Sneak+Trick+Dragon Kick dmg usually went for 800-1000. (the higest was in low 1100's.) this went down to 300-600 when Sneak wasn't in use. and assuming renkei dmg isn't resisted, that difference makes a max of 2300 in dmg, counting renkei dmg also. even taking 600 and 1100, it's 1250. and that number could've finished the battle if we chose to go w/ Sneak only.
when it's suspicious that mob may stay to a tank, i usually stay in between other melees, and wait for the last second to choose the right position. this is especially true if we're fighting skeletons, because like i said, using Sneak only could result better.
EDIT: i used "pathetic" where it shoud've been "optimistic. ヽ(;´д`)ノ sorry, i'm a japanese native and this happens once in a while... (;´д⊂)

Yeah, on my server, all I see are MNK/WAR's (including myself) so I might have to bridge out to THF. I have never used SA yet, so I might as well practice until 37. Also, other than serving as a Dragon Kick finisher, does THF have other benefactors of a sub while fighting HNM's, etc.?
