  • How much faster do purp and brown belt speed up your attacks?

Ok i just got purp belt, and i dont notice a difference. So im wondering is it worth it?

And with better haste +equip brown belt, fumas how many seconds would it shave off of your attack time?

Haste + items subtract a percentage of your total delay.

    My current Delay is 426,
my brown belt has haste +8%,
8% of that is about 34.

    426 - 34 = 392 = 3.92 seconds

So it's not that surprising that you don't notice a difference.

The Spell haste subtracts about 33% of your total delay
and it stacks with any haste up items you may have.
So with haste, my delay is about 251.
    Rude, but not wrong. ;x

Well going by the math without the +8% haste the attack rate for 426 delay is 285.42 with the +8% delay it will be 251.34. So in relations to seconds guessing that 285 and 251 would translate to 2.85 and 2.51 then you are getting a .34 second increase from the +8%.

With a weapon of bigger delay say 600 then the 33% from haste alone would take it to 402 with the +8% it will be 354. In this case you are getting a .48 second difference.

If you do this with a weapon that has a much huger delay like the 999 one I heard about then with the 33% you are getting 669.33 and with the +8% it goes to 589.41. That is about a .8 second difference. Compaired to the weapons original delay you have about a 3 seconds delay reduction with 33% and almost a 4 second delay reduction with the +8% added to it.

Not to mention that the +8% is always active so the weapons delay like a 999 delay is taken down to about 910 so you are getting almost 1 whole second more then normal.

So depending on the length of the match and the delay of the weapon the +8% haste won't help any if the delay is very minimal and the match is very short, but if both are big the numbers will really add up.

Okay, this is going to be a bit off-topic. Besides buying the belts from the AH, I heard that you can do quests to get them. How do you get these quests? I apologise if this has been asked before.

                  -Purple Belt-

This quest requires a bit of Tenshodo Fame, but if you do the Port Bastok Warehouse Zinc Ore quest a few times (2 or 3 should do it), one of the other Tenshodo members in that warehouse will give you the Purple Belt quest.
What you have to do is defeat Lumbering Lambert in La Theine Plateau, and Rampaging Ram in Konsachant Highlands. They each drop a horn (don't worry, the drop is 100%) that you trade back to the Tenshodo guy. Lambert and Rampaging are NM pops of regular Rams in both areas, and usually show up fairly often (every 2 or 3 hours).
A good level for MNK to solo this quest is 30. You can use Hundred Fists to win and live with 1/4 or 1/2 HP left.
If you can pick this belt up for around 6k to 8k, just buy it. You can do this quest later and sell the 2nd belt for money.

                  -Brown Belt-

This is a lot harder, which is why its worth so much more. Once you have Purple Belt quest done, talk to Vola in Tenshodo Jeuno. You may need more Tenshodo fame for this, but I think doing Purple Belt alone will be enough.
You have to defeat 3 NM this time. Deadly Dodo in Saromugue Champaign, Nue in Beaudicine Glacier, and Molborger in Ordelles Caves. Dodo and Nue only have about 60% drops, so you may have to kill them more than once. They usually pop up every hour to two hours though, so its not that bad.
                  Molborger on the other hand.....
Molborger is a NM in Ordelles that pops every 21-24 hours. Unless you actually see it die yourself there is no way to know when it will pop up next. Also, don't worry about killing Stropers to make Molborger appear, he spawns differently from them.
You can solo these 3 NM at 55 MNK. Nue is a pansy, Dodo requires Hundred Fists, and Molborger requires Hundred Fists and possibly some Potions / Medicines (in case it gets lucky with Bad Breath).

Good luck with Brown Belt. It took me 4 days to see Molborger once, and another 2 days until I actually killed it. Just be thankful Molborgers drop is 100%...

                    Ugh...

You have to do the quest at some point, too, if you want the black belt that just came out. *sigh* I'm just glad I'm still level 18...don't have to worry about that stuff for a while

And while I'm here, I might as well ask: Someone give me 1,000,000 gil so I don't have to farm for 8 months to get all of this equipment that I'm going to need to get by level 40 >_<. Even doing BCNM40s non stop for hours wouldn't net me the required money. *Begins to conjure up a clever money making scheme the likes of which the world has never seen before*
Finally got Rank 5! *Sings the "I love my Airship Pass" song*
