What is the BEST equipment for monks

Hey guys first time poster long time reader lol... heh heh anyways so my question is I lvled ranger up to 35 and did some sick damage. But to be honest I missed my monk too much (first job I played even if only to lvl 5) so I am back with monk. Im gonna sub War til 60 then sam. But my biggest concern is the large abyss known as 30-60 (where I have seen monks hang by the sidelines for hours and hours and hours). Now I have a pretty good rep and am also a super great cook so I am not as worried about being in a party. BUT I am worried about what equipment I should get so I actually help out.


So what is the best equipment for a monk im lvl 12 right now but I will be 30 in less than a week (I play nights and have alot of friends to help me catch up). Most importantly i guess is what H2H weapons should I use but also any other items that are good.


Money is not an option as soon as I sell my ranger equipment I should have close to 1.5 million gil so what is the hands down best stuff. Also I have emperors hairpin is that good for monks too? The +dex seems nice so I think it is and even the AF headgear didn't look that great. So I am waiting to hear ur suggestions as this forum seems to have the most high lvl monks.

When you reach lvl 18 try to get the purple belt it's a very good belt for monks. I forgot the stats sorry I know it has to do with str and hate % But I forgot the amount. Well I'm a elvaan monk and I raise both STR and DEX I raise more DEX since my DEX is kinda low. Also the Tropical Knuckles can be used up to lvl 30. Thats all I got ontop on my head I hope this helps.

I thought that baghnaks were better I have strike right now and I was plannin on switchin to Lynx or Cougar depending on which is better.


I was lookin at allakazams forum (they are not quite as good as u guys as none of them are really high lvl) They said republican Knuckles til 32.

Is this true should I buy those?

Don't trust allakazam's info their pretty inaccurate i found. Stick with tropical or strike till 32 for impact then get mythril knuckles +1 at 38. Your next upgrade after that should be Patas +1 then either Crosscounters if you have serious gil or Tact Hooks.

As far as jewelery goes you pretty much wear a spike necklace for life unless you get spectacles or a peacock charm. Earrings should be the HQ +Atk -Eva type or maybe dodge earrings if you plan on tanking. Rings preferably should be +str type but if you find your missing to much switch to +dex or snipers.

For belts get a warrior's belt +1, purple belt, brown belt, and life belt. You can sell the purple after you get brown but keep the warrior belt for when you want to boost your chakra and life belt for when you have a rough time hitting things. Brown should be what your wearing most of the time though as it rocks.

For gloves its pretty straight forward use battle gloves till you get to 34 for ochido's kote. Kote is one of THE most important peices of equip for a monk without one your dmg is very handicapped.

VE Hairpin is the best headgear you can get but you might want to switch to something with def if you plan on tanking.

As far as armor goes Jujitsu Gi, sitabaki, and fuma kyahan are what you should have on you at 40. I think i wore the windy cp doublet b4 that and beetle harness b4 that.

Currently I am a lvl 31 monk and I have several things on my wish list:

Ochido's Kote 500k
Empeorers Hairpin: 250k
Jujitsu Gi: 70k
Brown Belt: I forget

I have problems making gil, only 24k on me(this is about the most i usually have).

Which of these should I try to purchase first?

Depending on race these are the stats you should be worried about gear wise...

For me personally i worked my butt off farming for Jujitsu Gi and Fuma Kyahan. After i got those i did a lot of bc40's and that got me money for kote, brown belt, etc. So i would recommend getting the basic armors down first then working on getting the other stuff.

The Lynx Baghnaks are better than the Couger Baghanks, but the Couger ones you can get at a lower level, and they cost about as much as the Lynx, so if you are upgrading you equipment regularly, then you might as well go for the Couger first, then upgrade to the Lynx when you get to their lvl.

Oh, and purple belt raises you haste, not you hate. Haste is much better.

I dont plan on raising my Defense because I am a damage dealer. I know I know I will still get hit but with Dodge/counter/guard I don't think that Defense is my top priority as much as trying to catch up to DRGs DRKs and SAMs.

Right now I have been focusing mainly on Dex I have 2 Balance rings and emp hairpin. The reason for this is that my Cheifkabobs can't fix my DEX. Should I get sniper rings at 30?

snipper rings hurt that...

also i know dex is nice but it's more of a theif thing do to dex determining sneak attack dmg...

both Accuracy and Attack are twice as good as strength and dexterity respectivly keep that in mind

First of all as I said in my first post gil is not a problem I can always go farm for a couple of days or mine and get it back.

And right now I have 2 balance rings. Should I get courage rings? or Sniper rings and btw Sniper rings are lvl 30 and even if they were not I would never tank. So what rings should I get sniper, courage, or balance?

Also what footgear should I get?

And is it okay for me to keep wearing subligares I have martial slacks but are they really worth it plus subligares just look so much better.

If i was going to sacrifice one slot would it be okay to to sacrifice leg armor?

I am planninig on savin up some more gil and buying the peakock charm

Well, for me, between level 1-10 was just random hand to hand weapons. Not important to focus on.
From 10-20, I used Tropical Punches. At 20, I switched to Cougars, and recently, at level 24, bought lynx (30 delay, 6 damage, swoosh). I haven't found accuracy is that huge of a deal lately, because I rarely miss monsters. Should change some time soon though from what I hear.
Oh, and for armor. Got full kimono set at level 8, got a power GI and light soleas at 13, warriors belt at 15, spike necklace at 21, two shield earrings at 20, and I have a bastokan ring and a silver ring (need to upgrade that one), and a Dhamel Mantle at 18. Full Beetle armor, except for boots, which I use Light Soleas in place for (boots are 6k, total rip off). Next upgrade is at 30, for mercenary doublet gear.

BTW I got countercrosses today. Picked em up for only 1.5 mil on Asura 1 mil under listed price. (didn't mean to buy them I just do that in case someone puts it up for an insanely low price)

So I am thinking of getting sniper rings because people keep tellin me that ACC is way better than DEX. So thats my next purchase I guess.


I need to go minin or farmin and get some gil I am down to 400k now.
