    I just got Raging Fists tonight...and O M G

It owns...completely. Best one I've had so far during xp PT is 462 damage + 231 Impaction skillchain (forced the DRK to use spinning scythe, hehe). Of course, this was with kabob, valor minuet 2, sword madrigal, focus, and berserk, as well as having 188 ATK unbuffed, but still...ownage, complete ownage. I fail to see how any other job could possibly outdamage a properly equipped monk with a good skillchain setup between 41 and 49. And, even at 49, the only one I can really see outdamaging monk with good gear is a DRG with good gear (lots of +acc). Pentathrust, like Raging Fists, is worthless if you don't land at least 4-5 hits.

Raging Fists is the WS that will make you want to go solo WS whenever possible. It's simply unreal. Vs. a skeleton-type mob (IT, of course), I could see me breaking 600 damage with a bard in the group. Keep at it, 41 is where monks start to shine, and even though DRGs get Pentathrust at 49, we have the option to get a very nice weapon at 48 (Patas +1 I think, +15/+86), as well as lifebelt, which means you're tooling around with the equivalent of a 65 damage 426 delay 2H weapon, which is far from shabby. At 251 skill, a monk using a 19/96 weapon is essentially using a 94 damage 416 delay weapon...which, barring any obscene NM drops, is pretty much the best there is.

Keep at it...monk is a very good job.

I dunno maybe it's a server thing... if I find myself looking for a group for awhile, it's not due to the lack of people wanting monks. It's due to the lack of people my level logged on.

I don't really understand this comment:

Not sure what having a lifebelt has to do with the damage of your fists...anyway. Bone monstes we hit great, but I've noticed that they are increasingly becoming more difficult. Casting Blizzaga (some number) and Tornado..that and the fact everyone else does crap damage to bones monsters kinda makes groups avoid them.

Silence is highly resisted without elemental seal and mulitple casting causes unwanted agro.

So what do you do when you only have about three hours a sitting to play?

I think I managed to spend two hours waiting for a party in Quifim tonight, and didn't get a single invite.

I just don't have the time to sit on my duff and wait for a party 24/7.

Actually, it looks as though we've got a critical shortage of healing mages. I think there were about ten healing mages in my lvl range online in that area at the time. Considering we had somewhere around 100 people in my lvl range online there at the time, that's not good.

But, I wasn't the only monk who sat there for an hour or so waiting for a party, while other people got invites, so I suspect there's a bit of a trickle down effect from the 30's. Player's in their 30'2 don't give Monks much due, and when they get their advanced jobs, they bring the same misconceptions down to the 20-30 range.

Let me start off by saying that I'm a DRG46/WAR23. Up until Raging Fists, MNKs get the shaft compared to DRG and DRK. Nobody wanted a MNK period. Why? Because MNK 'sucked', 'did crap dmg' blah blah blah.

Then you guys get Raging Fists.

After Raging Fists, monks get a ton more respect. Nothing like seeing a multi-hit combo of blurring fists and feet to elevate your opinions of this underrated job.

So stick to it, tough out the hard spells of being a MNK, it becomes alot better (and this is coming from a DRG).
I still do not have Barblind.

The funny thing is, when I'm looking for a monk, they're never there =P.

                            Seems there's a TON of monks 0, but >30, there are like....none.

Which I like, since I am usually the only MNK available in my level range so I get invites fairly fast.
