  • Can Monks fight with their bare hands.

It just popped up in my mind while in the Monk forum. So can you?

A nice thing about Monk, is that if you de-lvl and no longer have access to your cool-new-weapon, you can use your fists until you lvl back =)

At the very least, a Monk should equip Tropical Fruit Punches for the +1 dam, 0 delay, +10 acc. It's a big buff with no extra delay.

Yeah, i gil farm with only my body armor and my linkpearl in my inventory Much nicer than having to carry around weapons when you want to maximize your haul.

          Damage takes a dive though.

Well, if I had the space to leave everything else at home, I'd probably do the same.
          Rude, but not wrong. ;x

but attack speed would get a big boost wouldn't it?

I think this is why tropical punches are popular (no delay penalty, better accuracy, or something like that)

0 delay is nice, but an item that provides accuracy+10 at lv.10 is godly. Also, consider that similar items....

              Life Belt, Lv.48, Accuracy+10, ~100K
              Peacock Charm, Lv.3?, Accuracy +10 ~4.3M
              Sniper Ring, Lv.40, Accuracy+5, 350K

So 10k for a pair of cesti that provide Accuracy+10 is not so bad

especially when you don't need to wear +acc belts, rings, and earrings anymore.

would they be good post lvl20 then? With stuff like +att gear

Well they look cool bare handed, but you aren't doing much damage. Maybe doing criticals like crazy, but that's about it. However, I'd say if you can get strong enough armor, and accessories, to compensate for the damage reduction, you can be a bare handed monk, while being well protected at the same time.

But eh..I'd stick to the knuckles and such..

Until you get to level 50 and some of the DMG:+15 or 16 weapons become available to you, you're not missing much by using a DMG:+1 weapon. Your accuracy boost will give you greater damage over time. Boosting your STR will have a much more profound affect on your damage per hit since it's possible to boost your str much higher than +10, which is the maximum damage weapon availavble until lv.48 when you can get patas (though i'd wait the extra two levels and get either C.C. Hooks or Crosscounters...). Remember that base damage (i don't mean monks weapon damage which is a function of your h2h skill) is calculated using your weapon damage and str. since you're weapon damage bonus from grapples is quite limited at this level, boosting str will give you a similar affect. boosting attack increases your potential damage (the total amount you can possible do) and also helps on high defense monsters.

f.y.i. sniper rings have come down to a mere 260k on midgard now
