    Is this combo worth it? Was just wondering because alls I see is Mnk/War...I know they are good but I might want to try and give it a alittle mix up. I have never actually seen a Mnk/Sam on my server before either.

    Just wondering...I searched and nothing to great came up.

    I'm very nearly level 30, planning on going Mnk/Sam, and I'd say it sounds worth it.

    I look at it like this.

    Sure there are alot of war subbed mnks around. Because war does compliment mnk quite well, and having a provoke helps with the lack of party invites which is the curse of the mnk. I myself have level 10 war, this was to help me get a party around the level 20 mark when it was quite hard. I don't plan on going further than that.

    Though, the way I see it is, mnks are all about constant damage. Low defense and no party aiding skills gives them nothing else other than attack. Sam gives you faster tp gain, which probably makes it the best sub for any combat job in the game. The faster you can get tp the faster you can gain weapon skills and the more you can deal big damage. That to me, considering mnks are built for attacking, is worth it.

    If you want options other than mnk/war though, you can try;

    Mnk/Sam = Like I said, fast tp gain, more use of weapon skills, so more constant high damage.

    Mnk/Thf = Higher evasion, gil and item farming, and nice high damage skills like sneak attack and trick attack.

    Mnk/Nin = This isn't used much, but I've seen a few of these and I'm thinking about trying it myself at some point. Ninjitsu seems to add a good variety to a mnks offense and defense.

    Mnk/Rdm = Uses enhancing magic to make your attacks more powerful, and emfeebling to weakens enemies. Back up healing is always handy too.

      Yea I think I am going to stick with it...It will only get better. I am going to rotate between Mnk/Sam and Sam/Mnk. I like the classes a lot and have not seen many if any around on my server. So we will see what happens.

        monk/sam is a good choice. but what ive read, to use the monk to the best of its ability, go monk/war until lvl 60, then at lvl 60 switch to monk/sam.

            all that requires is an extra lvl30 warrior to go with the monk before levelling samurai :/

              Yea that is kinda what I didn't want. I just don't like lvling a War so I might just stick with Mnk/Sam all the way...We will see if it is OK. I am sure it will be a bit tougher to get a party sometimes though but I will deal. I might get War to 15 and then use that untill I hit 40....Really not sure yet.

                You could always work up both subs and try them out. A warrior sub gives a big bonus to damage with berserk and double attack.

                before 60, Samurai sub would give you more TP per hit, but may not get you to 100% any faster then if double attack kicks in.

                I don't have a 60 monk so I can not say which sub would give you more damage at that level. I would imagine that it would depend on the make up of your group.

                If you work up both, you could be versitle and be able to pick which on is best for the cercumstance.

                  Yea your right about that...I was also thinking about just doing the Drk quest since it is so easy and try that as both my Mnk Sub and my Sam sub...We will see what happens...I think I am going to get both Sam and Mnk to 30 before I try my new subs for both. Sam is almost 18 now =).

                    Does any high level/importer who is 60+ with MNK know anything about how good MNK/SAM is at higher levels? MNK/SAM sounds real good in theory, but is it actually better than, say, MNK/WAR in practice? Basically, can someone with experience with both of these combos tell me, how does a 60/30 MNK/SAM compare to a 60/30 MNK/WAR?
                    (Not that I don't trust your guys' inputs, I just would like to hear the thoughts of someone who has actual experience with these job combos at their ideal levels) Thanks!

                      I've been told by the higher lvls* that Mnk/War is undoubtedly the best Mnk combination.

                        well, I seriously doubt it's significantly better than mnk/sam or mnk/drk or whatnot.
                        mnk/sam seems like the combo best for greatest damage, mnk/war is more like a quasi tank

                          Mnk/War = Berserk, Double Attack, WarCry, Atk+ Passive Ability

                          Mnk/Sam = Every 5 minutes, 50 TP.

                            Every 3 mins not five.
                            Plus you have the passive extra tp gain.
                            and you have the demon resist.. although I think that one is rather useless.. -shrugs-.

                            Well I don't plan on subbing war ever since I don't plan on ever being a tank and the only reason I would even bother to level it is if one of my friends needs help in lower levels.

                            Call me not a friendly person but I just don't like being the group's damage sponge while they beat on the monster.

                            Sure I know that after level 40 or so groups probably wont be asking me to tank often on my sam or my mnk.. but if I just don't like war for some odd reason. And I salute those that can put up with war, or pld because I can't lol.
                            Fighting without knowledge of the battle is like wacking at a tree with a rusty sword badly in need of repair.

                            P.S. ..if a male mithra is ever made available for this game I don't care what level I am I would start over in a heartbeat. Just something about playing a female as a male that bothers me.. Not for the dex.. but because I like cats
