    enspells

with a monk, you hit twice as often

    so twice the effectiveness!

    plus...

I swear, one day, I will see 100 fists with enthunder on.

My entire FFXI experience is based around enspells

Actually, I've tried this. En-series spells do work with hand-to-hand weapons as well as swords, and it's possible they work with others. It's a beautiful thing for monks or thieves with hand-to-hand fighting preferences, especially against monsters weak to whatever element you're using. :spin: Weeeeee....

thinking even further into this, I'm thinking the whm spell 'blink' combined with evasion will make 'em quite survivable too (it also helps that the monk has a medium mind stat too)

          taru taru i hope?
interesting strategy but it seems more to me like a soloable contest...

its just another silly but cool trick like 2hring w/ nin sub and 2 clubs :p
due to mnks mp of 0 and low int/mnd compared to mages it's not worth it for 'actual' use, be cool to see though

The idea I've got though is use the MP solely for self boosting spells

              mostly Enthunder/stone/fire/aero/etc.

              not enfeebling.

I'm a level 40 Monk/Red Mage, and it works out very well for me. With the Monk's faster Hand-to hand attacks (thanks to Martial Arts traits) En- spells end up adding a good bit of damage. I can also case Blaze Spikes, should the agro ever fall to me.

/RDM is useless. En spells are a soloing novelty, not a basis to sub a job. The only time I ever use en spells is when I have a lot of spare mana, or when I'm working up dagger (to make up for the fact daggers are horrible), and I am a Rdm/Whm.

I promise you, the bonus you get from berserk far outweighs the damage you get from a half-level en spell.

but that's not as cool as a monk with flaming fists
nin/rdm probably gets more out of enspells though

Mnk/War seems like the most plain monk one could build too, that's nearly the only combo I see with monks

and I think an elvaan mnk/rdm would still hit quite a bit harder than tarutaru mnk/fighter
