  • Question about monk abilities as a Sub class

This goes basically for ANY class that has a monk for sub...

Basically, being that most of the monks abilities are based on his hand to hand skill, how much of his abilties will remain if monk is your sub class?

Every other class uses a weapon.

Will this make guard no longer work?

Will this make counter attack no longer work?

If your main class is one that wears armor, does wearing armor with a sub class of Monk defeat your evade ability? Can you even wear armor if you have a subclass of Monk?

If a monk loses everything except for Boost if you sub Monk, then I cant really see a point in doing it.

But, if subbing monk still keeps his other abilties, like counter attack, then subbing monk with something like Warrior, or Dragoon might actually be semi decent (ie: imagine a dragoon counter attacking with his spear)

If your subjob is level 10 monk you can Counter with any weapon equipped. In order to get the benefits of guard you have to be using Hand-to-hand.

While leveling my warrior to 30, I picked up 10 monk as a subjob for the extra HP, counter, and boost, although I didn't use hand-to-hand so I did not benefit from guard.
