Dragoon Discussion

I've had a facination with Dragoons in the FF series for a long time now...I plan to make my character a Dragoon and i don't give a damn if everyone else is one...I don't want to fit in or stand out...I just want to play FF11 and have fun!^_^

I've been thinking about making a Elvaan dragoon with a red mage subclass...Good or bad combination?
And i have one question....Do you have to have a spear/trident equipped at all times if your a dragoon?...Or can you use a sword if you have a sub job that allows it? :spin:

Red mage isn't a good subjob for a dragoon. You wont have any MP and will be less effective as a fighter. Warrior, Theif, and Samurai are the best subjobs for dragoon. However Theif and Samurai wont get picked as often as a Dragoon with Warrior.

The dragoon can use one handed swords as well as spears. However you wont want to spears and lances while slow in attack speed do great damage, and thats what dragoon is all about the damage.

Actually after LV 60.... DRG/SAM gets picked alot more often because at that level your TP will skyrocket enabling you to do Penta Thrust(5 Hit Weapon Skill at LV 49) alot more often.

lol thats Dragoon af armor. You can get it as long as ur main is dragoon. Doesn't matter about your sub.

Advanced/Expansion Job Quests


Job Obtained : Dragoon Knight
Quest Provider: Oiheaurese
Quest: Obtain the Dragon egg
To do: First of all go to "Cargo Room A" (I-10) in Port Sandoria. Then speak to Arminibit and Ceraulian. Enter Chateau d'Oraguille(Castle) then Down the path at (I-8) to Bostaunieux Oubliette(Prison), then enter the first path that's to the right to meet Novalmauge. Go to the Cathedral in Northern San Doria(L-7) and speak with Morjean to recieve the quest from Oiheaurese. After receiving the quest, goto the Auction house and buy some Pickaxe for excavating purpose.
Now, go to the Maze of Shakrami to excavate at "Excavation Point" (G-7),(I-6), etc., NOT "Fossil Rock", for a "Dragon Egg"
Go back to Cathedral and speak with Morjean, Accept the additional quest given by Yachemidot. Go to the Meriphataud Mountains, then to the east at (K-8) will be the end of the Drogaroga's Spine, There will be ???, trade the egg to the ??? and a event will occur.
Go back to Sandoria and enter Chateau d'Oraguille(Castle) then enter into Royal Knights'Qrs(H-9) and speak to Rahal and receive a key item.
After receiving the key item, go to Ghelsba Outpost. Locate the "Hide Door"(G-10 Hut) in the Ghelsba Outpost and defeat the Dragon.

Note: I am not sure if it's always the case, but I got the Dragon Egg in first try at the first Excavation Point. So just in-case bring about 6 of the Pickaxe, they tend to break easily. When you are ready to fight the Dragon, only 1 group at a time can enter the Hide Door to fight. There may be some people waiting in front of the door for other missions/quests etc, if that's the case, just line up behind the person and let the person in front of you go first. So be careful and make sure you do not just run up to the door and enter it.
