    Fellow Dragoons,

    I am curious as to everyone's opinion on the Ice Lance+1 vs the Orichalcum Lance as an end game weapon. I recently bought the Ice Lance+1. The major difference between the two is the Orichalcum Lance has 2 more dmg and offers +2 acc. At 75 is it a noticable improvement? Its not that I cant afford the Orichalcum Lance but if its not all that hot, I'd rather save my gil for other improvements.

    I had the Ice Lance +1 for the longest time, then the Orichalcum came out, and everyone wanted it. I got one and spent a few days trying to compare the two. For me personally, I saw no difference in the performance of the two lances. The Ice Lance has the additional Ice damage, but it kicked in so rarely that I didn't use that additional damage in my decision on which one to keep.

    I don't know what the current price for the O lance is these days, if it's reasonable, maybe try both and keep the one you like the best.

    I ended up keeping the O lance, it's just a sexier lance to look at! LOL I'm sorry if I didn't help much.

      Of course Merzaq is going to be a better lance than both. One lance I am shooting for is the Imperial Neza (Lv. 71 DMG 92 Delay 478). I am not sure how many assault points are needed to obtain this lance. Its from the Mamool Ja assaults though.

            After messing around with both lances for a long while, I've come to the conclusion that while the O Lance has a higher base damage rating, the Ice Lance +1 still has a slightly higher DPS, due to the lower delay (11.30 for Ice vs 11.22 for O Lance). I seem to belt out the same damage either way, but I'd rather dish it out faster with the Ice +1 instead of waiting for a little bit longer to do essentially the same damage with O Lance. The extra acc from O really doesn't make much difference anymore at 75; at that point, you're either using sushi (which makes an extra 2 acc rather pointless), or chaining VTs like mad, and accuracy isn't a problem in the first place. Depending on your set up, a higher DPS is the way to go.

            Of course, if you've got a Haste build, then by all means, go O Lance. And if you can get it, Mezraq...

              Personally I see Mezraq > O Lance > Ice Lance+1.

              I used all 3 in chronological order of released, and sold each after its cooresponding previous lance. Mezraq procs quite often for a melee weapon. The reason I prefered O lance, I was always a fan of base dmg, while keeping traditional delay, 492. Yes IceLance+1 has that quicker delay, but as mentioned, shaving off 0.2 seconds wont do much when chaining VTs that dont even live as long as 25 seconds. The delay difference is -very- minimal. Also DPS can fluctuate depending on gear setup.

              One DRG can use O Lance with attk+ Gear and dish out gread DoT, Same can be said about Ice Lance +1; but Base dmg comes into play when you start dishing out WS's.

              Thats just my opinion, If you can afford it, I would say O Lance > Ice+1
