how much has this been improved post patch?

  • #2
350-650 damage, top end comes from double attack. 700ish with SATA. Consistently hits 450's. I've heard some DRG haven't been able to hit that hard with it, and some DRG who average in 500's, so I guess it's just iffy.

Compared to 100-250 with a top end 400 double attack pre-patch, it's a significant improvement, still having Wheeling Thrust accuracy issues, with +54 accuracy.

      Just posted this on allakhazam:

I was in a party today fighting Flamingos in Ru'Auns garden.
      Partysetup was:
WHM, RDM, THF, PLD, BLM, DRG66/WAR33(me)

so no bard to make my ws stronger or something.

Since I did the initial voke I couldnt alwasy WS with berserk on but I found that the damage is absolutly not as set as I thought.
It normally did ~450(not counting wyvern) wich I think is good damage for a opener. The lowest damage i did was ~280(not counting wyvern) and the highest was 702(not counting wyvern). I think it is a great imorovement and it seems like if Double Attack kicks in that too will ignore defence and do some really nice damage.

Well I had a little damage bonus becuase it is birds but still much better than I thought it would be. Our party got about 4-5k/hour.
Colossal lance, Optical hat, Mermans gorget, Assault earring, Coral earring, Assault jerkin, Drachen fng. gnt., Ruby ring x2, Forager's mantle, Life belt, Barone cosciales, Barone Gambieras
+Full JSE, Wyrm Brais, Forest rope
      Leathercraft: 90+1
      San d'Oria Rank 10
      Windurst Rank 9
Sky, Moon & Lufaise Meadows O

Just curious...how much dmg would those dmg numbers be WITH a wyvern? Would it be substantial enough to say...decent enough for a damager?

100-150 damage, given the right elemental breath is used. It still falls short of other jobs WS damage even with wyvern breath, but certainly not as disparaging as it was before.

Once you hit Tulia, get invited to a bone pt, fight damselfly-types, wyvern damage can't be relied on, because it will not survive an exp pt. Nothing will make it survive short of asking them to stop pulling so your wyvern will live. Everything I've fought 67+ has had a strong AE, that goes off multiple times every fight.

I know this post is really old but.... on mobs with Hard Hitting AE why don't you just pull out wyvern for WS and then call it back? i mean if it's gonna die in the first fight might as well have it everytime you WS.

The wyvern must be at full hp before it can be released if you want to be able to call it back before your 2hr is up.

Yeah i know. I mean there are mobs to which you know your wyvern doesn't stand a chance so don't call your wyvern till you are about to WS, then right after the WS call it back. You could do this during all the time you are lvling.

                    Also

Of course, your wyvern won't have a chance to fight and gain TP. I'm not saying you can't do it, but your WS will lack the punch your wyvern has at 100+ TP. Then again, it could be your only choice.

Dismiss has a cooldown timer of three or five minutes, memory is hazy. Makes it hard to use dismiss for strategic purposes. You can use Super Jump to make your wyvern avoid AoEs once every five minutes (inadequate) if you can react fast enough and the mob's charge time is long enough. It's not practical though.
I haven't noticed a difference in breaths hinging on <pettp>, that might not even be a factor.

Can someone give me an idea how Wheeling Thrust and Impulse drive damage ranges with +STR gear macro'ed in? Off the top of my head I can think of +30 STR you can wear at level 65 (including food). I'd kinda like to know if it makes a particularly substantial difference.

They have a 50% str mod listed, so you should be able to get a pretty respectable damage increase by stacking str gear.

Read that. 50% and 1.75 multipliers are exceptionally vague and (by the authors own admission) are not exact numbers to be poured into a damage equation. What would be cool would be if raw numbers are posted.
