Dragoon Help needed

Hello Everyone

Sorry to bother you all but I recently opend the Dragoon job and got it to lv 10 (I had to see JUMP). I did enjoy leveling the job alot I found it very fun but I am having a slight problem. I wanna sub White Mage to what ever I pick as Main. At the moment it's between SMN/WHM and DRG/WHM. The mian thing is I was told with DRG/WHM I wouldn't be able to find PT's was wopndering if thats true or not? Only Avatars I have at moment are Carbuncle, Garuda, Ifrit, Shiva and Ramuh. Also if I did sub White Mage would I still do decent damage and be good in Pt's? I know I have to keep my Polearm upgraded all the time and I really don't mind that and try and keep best armor upgrade I can.

Uhm. DRG's are hated and thought little of most of the time.

I think it would be extremely hard to get a party with DRG/WHM, because people might see you as gimp.

There was a DRG/WHM lfp at the Dunes, and the leader of our party was like "I'm not getting the DRG, they suck.. Plus he's probly gimp lol.. how bout that war?"

Its not up until lvl 50 and on that Dragoons get shunted out of groups....so you shouldn't need to worry about that.

Insofar as DRG/WHM, a melee is truly a better sub, at least until level 61. However, if you don;t have a melee sub leveled, then by all means go with whm.

Your mp won;t be much, but you be able to emergency cure, as well as maybe through in a dia or two.

Its not the best choice, but then....its not the worst. Try it out.

Its at 60 drg getting worse but thats being fixed now
I dont know why everyone thing drg sucks before that, thats not even close to true. We are one of the highest damage dealers.

Sub whm might get you through dunes if you dont mind bad parties, but it won't get you much further. Healing breath at that level is not very effective, your MP will be low, and you'll be unable to provoke/backup tank which is easy for a drg to do until 30+. Go level up war to 15, at least, then sub it. I'm in a perma with my drg, but I have a friend who's been at 53 for over a week on drg now, and she's lfp every day. DRG are not bad at that level, that's just a misperception that unfortunately hurts the whole class.

So what if I level Samurai upto about 15 cause I can do that Solo would that be any good for Dragoon I don't really like Warrior much but I am cool with Samuai I been looking for a excuse to lvl it anyway but like b4 I'd have to sub WHM to Sam cause thats all I have for a sub at moment. Would that be ok DRG/SAM?

drg/sam isn't an acceptable sub til 60, so no, you're only subjob option is war unless you would like to be gimp

Sorry, you're so out of luck. Warrior is the only viable sub for dragoon. Drg/sam never was as good as people claimed it to be and with the TP nerf it's even worse. Either level war or forget about drg.

Getting parties is hard enough for drg. With drg/whm you're basically putting yourself to the very bottom of the list.

Alrighty, here's how the stigma's been: Dragoon is just a melee. A lot of pt's don't really like them in anything else. DRG/WHM just isn't well liked enough. The only place it's really appropriate would be soloing or for quests requiring the use of sneak and invis. /sam isn't viable anymore in pt's. The only reason it was good was because before the TP nerf, having that additional TP was godly. Now, you don't get much from it except meditate, which, alone won't be that great. Plus, you get more +str from a war sub anyway. If you want to sub something pt's like, it's all about /war or /thf.

I think that if you're putting everything into getting pt's, go smn/whm. They're semi-popular as a healing class.

Until the late 30's to early 40's a DRG will outdamage anyone other than a RNG or a BLM. Not wanting a DRG because he has /WHM is understandable but not wanting a DRG at that level because they "suck" is foolishness. The ONLY caveat to this is that if you are in a goblin party, the DRG might lose his wyvern to bomb toss, but at that level, even wihout a wyvern, a DRG is a great melee.
