I honestly havent seen a drg in an XP pt in months.

Thier melee dmg over time ( as seen with parser) is very good if hyou are using a lance type polearm. Nothing to be ashamed of( wyvern included, without wyvern you suck ). Nearly that of an extremely well equipped drk.

They could fix drg, at least to an acceptable level ( i would be willing to invite them) if they jsut changed the properties of thier WSs to make them more skillchain friendly. For example.. put penta thrust in the same category as guillotine, so it can help in a distortion Skillchain ( by FAR the most used until lv3 skillchains).

IMO drg got hit HARD with a nerf stick that wasnt even aimed at them. Ive seen the mnks tear soem stuff up with thier fully upgraded relic weapon + asuran fist. It was VERY unbalanced. Upsetting actually

Right now, my set party is:
      PLD/WAR(me), DRG/WAR(Bro), WHM/BLM(Friend), RDM/BLM(Sis), and a THF/NIN(one of the best THF's we've played with besides rank 10 JP).

We have one more slot, and right now, I think a SAM would fit best. Two renkei per battle, so RDM can get 2 MB in. Plus, I believe a SAM can tank better than the DRG for fuidama. I have to use Flash to keep the DRG alive till fuidama is gotten off(and he likes to use beserk before he use Double Thrust). I have no problems controling hate yet. I'm hoping this will work fine as we pass 50.
It'll become really hard on your PT to kill mobs at the prime exp spots passed 60 or so. With no BRD or BLM, I can only imagine the time you guys will be having in Onzozo, for that matter.

Yeah my armor has been quietly folded, buffed and hanged in my mog house. At the moment, ive been playing:
Nin, Rng, Pld.. I only wear purple when farming.. Didnt see the point of it since we're outcasts at the moment.

We don't reeally like most of the prime exp spots. They tend to be too crowded for good exp. So we need to hunt for specific exp spots good for us, that's not a problem.

          Be like a Paladin.
Take the hit, shrug it off, and ask if their mom hits any harder.

Hmmm you almost = damaged a WAR that was 16 lvls higher then you?(What weapons was he using?) Must have been something wrong with this WAR, WAR can be VERY good Damage dealers, when swinging a GrtAxe. there are DRKs lvl 60+ that say WARs have out damaged them. So please dont make the idea that al DRG 16 lvls lower then a WAR can almost do as much damage.

On topic, i to have seen a BIG drop in DRGs, i am starting to see a bit more BRDs and RNGs running around. I didnt know the TP nerf hurt the DRG that much, i guess they traded that in for the ability to heal your Dragon, who knows.

            Good Luck.

Im thinking of being a DRG once I hit lvl30. It just looks like the most fun to me. My question is when everyone is talking about the damage DRG do is that including the wyvern or are you talking about the DRG itself? I figured with the extra help of the wyvern the damage given would be near the same as most other melee classes.

No idea, didn't check him. A 2HS of some type I think but I seem to remember him switching weapons a bit. Maybe he had low skill in it and was levelling it up or something.

was penta thrust ment to be used inbetween sc's? no it was something that was figured out thru game play an worked to perfection. or as some would call it "spamed". i think its funny that some shot it down. but didnt mind those faster exp chains, an quicker exp while having an unnerfed drg in the group. ohhh how easily we forget.. AN WHILE ON THE SUBJECT OF THINGS NOT MENT TO BE........

BLINK TANKS! yes this is another job skill never ment to be. but by a high lvlers trying to make it a challange. turned it into a whole nother aspect of nin. a nin that can tank! somethng square also never ment it to be..

so now what?? should we go ahead an gimp blink cause it is being used the wrong way? or is being used to much? i mean didnt S.E say it themselves, that blink tank was never ment to be? well this is basically the same kind of thaught that went into the TP nerf.. how long til they atk a nin's blink?

an if sam was being short changed. why not give them an acc trait, a haste trait, atk trait, make there tp return a little bit higher or a great katana multi hit weapon skill? there is so much lil things they could have done to sam that would make them happy. would make them more wanted in a pt. yet they dance around it. an claim " oh theres nothing wrong with sam"..

you can look at drg the same way. minus the weapon skill. although what is a dragoon? the book says they can command creatures called wyverns. yet i dont see one command feature for a wyvern OTHER THEN summon, an release. an even summon is a freakin lame ass 2 hr..maybe they should work on a char. to make them all wantable. more pt oriented. instead of looking for ways to cripple them more...

2 years the game has been out, an a few months into NA computer release the tp nerf? WHY NOW?

I never saw any shit that was wrong with dragoon knight, I thought tha whole idea was bitch'n' when u get to have this pimp dragon follow u around kickin' the shit outta enemies.

Noz had his dragon knight and he quit it because he said that tha amount of damage given was less than that of a Drk, War, or Pld. I dunno , I've never been a dragon knight before so I can't say that they suck.

                        I quit Dragoon at 63.

                        Currently playing Bard and Ranger.

While fighting Toramas at Onzozo , my static party would laugh at my penta thurst damage. The Paladin would have a nice giggle when his vorpal would outdamage my Penta !!! and that was before the TP nerf.

My Dragoon equip were 2 snipers rings, grand knight armys lance, merman gorget, life belt, assault earring, amenit mantle, spiked earring. etc...

Wasnt rare for me to get a 75 dmg pentathurst...

I looked up to the higher lvl dragoons in hope it was just a "Bad" lvl range phase... and it turned out that it would only get worse as WHeeling Thrust were even weaker.

There i was outdamaged in the WS department by the Paladin! My average hit + wyvern was actually fine and in pair with others, whenver anyone used a WS i felt something was wrong with my job anyway!!!!

Even after all that i kept playing because i could still regain TP faster than others and was the only able to keep up with a Samurai for Fast Skillchains... (whoever thinks penta spam was nice is a newbie).

After the nerf , when i saw a very weak WS and no TP back from it, i knew it was the end. I stopped due to shame since i had a static party and finding groups wasnt even an issue!

Right now the result is i spent 4-5 months in a Job that is an excellent farmer =p All the high lvl Dragoons i knew playing on Alexander are pretty much gone, most of them has quit to other jobs.

Same thing happened to me against Toramas.. Didnt see the point of continuing it unless helping others in their af quests....
That big pointy stick we carry is pretty much...a stick against big fanged beasts which when used can be a source of amusement by the enemy (or by our allies)

at level 70+ there's only 3 places you can level. and all of those places require a blm if you want to chain fast.

drg's strongest ws in an exp pt is skewer. wheeling thrust and their quest ws are weak. as far as weapon skills go, they can start light renkei but so can wars and bsts with 1h axe and rngs. rngs' ws damage is beyond what a drg can do and calamity and decimation can do at least twice the damage of wheeling thrust and their quest ws. which is enough to turn the mob. or the tank can do red lotus and do a three step skillchain to light in which the end result will be more overall damage in the skill chain than if you have a drg. (example of this would be red lotus blade > howling fist > dragon kick)

there's just so many ways to deal more damage in a skill chain than what drgs can do.

however, i do have to say that drgs who are properly equipped with +acc gear can gain tp as fast or even faster than thf/nin or rng/nin.

Hehe towards the late 70s, DRG will get TP before any THF.

Impulse Drive's damage is pretty random. I'd compare it to Tachi: Gekko, but a little stronger in damage. On the path to 75, I exp'd with a SAM a fair bit, so there were two renkeis, one with the PLD, and one with me. We were both subbing WAR, and it was decided that I end our skillchain. Even with WAR sub, I could get up 800 damage with Impulse Drive in Kuftal Tunnel or in Ro'Maeve.

Of course, with Impulse Drive you get to have 1 hit connect for like 210 damage, which happens alot more than you'd like it to.

This in no way compares to those 1300 Spinning Slashes that DRK like to throw around, or some crazy RNG crap. Atleast Impulse Drive is a good substitute to remove the PLD from some skillchains. Of course, Asuran Fists is in the same slot, but who actually sees a MNK at like level 73? They get 75 after 70 in like 2 days.
