Lol, that reminds me when I cast poisonga at one end of palborogh lvl 3 and the quadavs ran around the closed off areas in a big circle and I ended up with 30 or so after me. I couldn't even get spinning scythe to go off with this odd pulsating mob. The room was totaly filled. All these lvl 10s followed the train and sort of gawked at me. Gave me a big scare, but I lived with half heath after taking them out 1 by 1.

Anayway, killing mobs en-masse isn't that great since low level suff usually have bad drops and gil. I'm still running after tigers and with the previous TP rate, I could 1-shot every other and run up a high kill rate really quick. Now I have to wait every 3 or 4 before guillotine is ready which is hurting my gil/hour signifcantly. I imagine drg/thf without the ability to self heal it's a lot worse.

Yup! Plenty of such adventures when mages are off farming.

And hey! Obviously dragoons aren't the worst at farming now, I have to imagine that bards have it much, much tougher. But dragoons obviously weren't the best at farming before either (as someone pointed out, if you want farming, get a thief!) so making them worse at it isn't exactly balancing.

It'd be like saying, Michael Jordan and the Bulls were too dominant, so let's make the second best team in the league (the Utah Jazz then?) even worse by taking away their point guard. That way, the rest of the league would be more "balanced."

...pretty terrible analogy, but the point is that dragoons were "pretty good" at farming single mobs before, and now they aren't. And I'm still at a loss as to why.

Well, you make a good point. However to be analogous, I think more befitting would be to say, "Lets raise the Chicago Bulls hoop a little higher to compensate for the anti-gravity jump boots there team is wearing that the other team cannot."

        :D

Anyways, no I'm not saying that they were the best at it or that they are now the worst at it, but to compare it to the Chicago Bulls indicates a notion that the Chicago Bulls outstanding trackrecord is based on utility rather than the teams tallent.

Good players will still be damn good farmers, no matter what the case, just as Michael Jordan had the potential to be a great player, not because he played for the Bulls alone, but rather because he was quite talented. Conversly, some players may not have been able to farm well as a dragoon even with penta-spam.

I think that the person sitting at the keyboard, operating the character determines whether or not that character is successful, not solely the capabilities of the race/class combination.

BTW, TiredTaru, I do totally agree with your analogy, and that this nerf is somewhat bullshit. However, in an attempt to give SquareEnix the benefit of my doubt, I try to see positive effects of this. I do not mean to offend anybody.

LOL. I think thats a great analogy.

Someone mentioned Penta dmg before and after the patch. Yes, the damage is about the same, but most DRG's don't use it for its raw power (there is no raw power in Penta). DRG's use the Penta to farm for the fast TP so we can kill faster. With this, it makes it harder. Oh well. I guess I am going to have to lvl up a THF now and farm with that. Lvl 1....here I come. Man, that second Sniper's Ring is so there.....hehehe....

I guess I was too frustrated when I made this thread so I may not have made any sense....but I still stand by what I said when it comes to WTF??

DRG's already have a hard time finding parties....so I make my own. Hell, I was mostly a party leader from lvl 30 up to lvl 60. Either that or I get lucky and a few people I partied with before invites me. Other than that.....no party invites from anyone....I can sit there and seek for 3hours since I can't find enough people to start a party....and the most productive thing I did was catch up on re-runs of my favorite shows....LOL. Moving on....I am just saying this makes the DRG class a bit less desirable to get invites than it already was.

Although I am tempted to quit the DRG and play another job, I will still play with it and lvl it up to 75....then I'll feel even better since I know it's not something very easy to do...

            OK....end rant for me

One more thing i noticed. Check out job abilities and traits of all the jobs.. Notice that all of them have abilities and traits up to the 70s? Even SAM has tp gain trait at the 70s.. Why do us DRGs stop at 50s? Could there be more abilities introduced later?
Someone in Square has been making guesses on our abilties and has not been playing with the job to see if it is balanced. Not to mention no range weapons allowed on this job.. The wyvern is supposed to be able to compensate for that.. He has wings doesnt he?

Drg is still a very viable class it seems, with their jump abilities. Also, I'm assuming that pentathrust still does the same amount of damage.
                jump is a joke
                (same with high jump)
with the shit damage PA does you'll never need to use super anyways

double thrust probably does more damage in an EXP situation than penta (IT mobs) the point of penta before was to be able to WS and still catch up to the other melee's TP to renkei
