    Stolen from Stratics MB.

March-April Announcements (from the POL Viewer - FFXI Developer's Corner):

    * Expansion of FFXI to areas in Europe and Asia are currently being considered
    * Next major update will be the last week of April. "Conflict" will be introduced at that time.
    * The first Conflict event, as hinted at before, is called Ballista. Ballista is a simple event and has nothing to do with EF.
    * Ballista will be event-only for a while, but will eventually be added in permanently. It will be tweaked based on recommendations even after it is added permanently.
    * New Dynamis areas will be added this update

    CHANGES:

    [Event-related]

    * The first event for Conflict, "Ballista", will be implemented.
    * New quests and battles designed for alliances will be added
    * New quests will be available to each nation
    * Guild quests that call for the manufacture of a certain item will be implemented
    * Characters will be able to participate in a strategy called "Garrison" that will be available at several outposts

    [Battle-related]

    * New Dynamis areas will become accessible
    * Several new battlefields, ranging from low to mid level, will be added
    * An issue regarding the accumulation of TP with weapon skills that consist of multiple strikes (Combo, Penta Thrust, etc.) will be corrected.
    * A new job trait called "Subtle Blow" will become available for monks and ninjas
    * An ability that allows dragoons to restore their wyvern's HP will be added. Dragoons will also be able to dismiss their wyvern. If they dismiss their wyvern, "Call Wyvern" will be ready for use immediately.

    [Item-related]
    * The mysterious "Strange Apparatus" will become operational
    * A new type of flowerpot will become available
    * Players will be able to insert their name into the help text of certain synthesized items
    * New guild-related furniture and equipment will be added
    * the number of items obtained from beastman treasure caskets will be increased
    * New synthesis and desynthesis recipies will become available
    * New items will be available for purchase at several of the guild shops
    * Various new items will be added

    [System-related]
    * A new emote for giving a triumphant yell will be added
    * A sort function will be added to Storage
    * A character's footsteps will no longer be heard while under sneak
    * the name of a pet's master will be displayed when a pet is targeted
    * The limit of the /wait macro will be extended to sixty seconds
    * AN ON/OFF setting for "Battle Effects" will be added to the Config menu
    * It will be possible to place single items on auction from a stack of items

    * Several other updates will be announced at the time of update.
I stole this from Fawn on the Shadow Dragons board. Looks like they're recognizing our flaws and taking action .

Not sure if the multiple-hit WS tweaking is good or bad, but thought I'd point it out anyway.

I sure hope they don't make penta only give 12tp back max. The wyvern stuff is really nice though.

Its a fix for the PRE-AF Dragoons.

Plus the dismiss Wyvern at full HP, the only real utility i see for this are when you going to ride a Chocobo. Because in Battle if you had to dismiss your wyvern at all it wouldnt obviousily be at full life.

I dont see it solving the high lvl dragoon issues though! and thats where we need to be adjusted.

Unless the PentaThurst TP gain become even greater, and it would still not help because if we spam penta even more than what we can currently, we will get all the hate.

If they reduce the PentaThurst TP gain, Well it wont affect past lvl 60 dragoons, since PentaThurst damage is crap at these levels and bad for renkei. It will affect the lvl 49-55 dragoons though (the only time we are actually better than others, i might add overpowered here as well lol).

Its a start for the Dragoon Community i guess. Maybe they are starting to look at us.

I agree, looks more like a problem to solve changing sub jobs or riding a chocobo, which is still nice in my opinion.

Now I could farm with my wyv out while looking for group and not have to worry about it not being ready if I get an invite.

        Baby steps =D

I read somewhere else tho that the pet dragon has to be FULL hp b4 you dismiss it to recall it immediately again.

I'm glad they finally added the ability to heal your wyvern, and able to call it again after a dismiss without waiting for the 2hour to come back. If they fix the problem with being totally crummy against the undead, then I may actually play drg to the max lvl.

this is just a small step. not barely enough to fix the flaws in this job, but it's a start. at least we know that they recognize these jobs as flawed.

how do swords faire agenst the undead? we can use swords right? I have personally experienced the nearly negative dammage a spear does to bone though

                    Ewwww, don't use 1hs...

Drg gets a C- in it, which means at lvl 65 when you can get vorpal blade (with war/pld/drk sub only), it is capped 30 levels behind your spear.

Having experienced the high miss rate and low damage of an underleveled weapon on my drk, I'd have to say--not a good idea. May not have the damage penalty against bones, but it's pitiful regular damage anyway.

If you absolutely HAVE to go against bones, i'd suggest leveling up Staff which I believe we have a B- in.

Personally I avoid bones unless it is absolutely neccessary to fight them.

                        it's a complete multi-hit WS nerf.
                        Using Penta as an example
Current rate of TP gain for a fully connecting Penta is 13.5 x 5 for approx 70 tp return. After the patch, the formula will be 13.5 + 4 for 17~18 tp return. That meaning, 13.5 for the base hit, and 1 tp per hit for the other 4. Can't say I'm too thrilled with this.

uh where did you get this info? it doesn't even mention that anywhere?

Nevertheless, if they totally nerf TP return....that would suck, but finally make 2 things occur:

                            1) loads of melee would sub sam for more ws

                            2) give samurai main their role as TP kings

I sure hope 2 is what happens instead.

Well if they really nerf that TP gain it goes for a lot of jobs, not only us.

It will help make Samurai more useful , they needed to be adjusted as well. But i didnt want to see this at cost of weakening most of the other jobs and specially us.

                              - It will ruin our ability to solo past 60.
                              - It will slow down our farming abilities
                              - It will bring Dragoon 49-55 in balance with other jobs (we gotta admit we are overpowered at this lvl range).

However for the high end , dragoon 60+

                              - We will be stuck with bad WS AND bad tp regain.
                              - We will be even worse against undead , when our only source of damage was comming from WS.
                              - We will have to sub samurai to chain what we could before and still for crap damage.

If the nerf for TP gain is that bad , high lvl game is done for Dragoons. In fact i can see hope on this, we will be so horribly bad it might bring their attention ! LOL.
