Lv. 60+ Starting to get discouraged, any hopes?

I recently "gave up" Dragoon at 52 because I was just getting bored with the same old shit. I'll eventually go back and finish up the AF armor but that'll probably be it.

I sold my gear and picked up some Astral Rings and I've now gone RDM - nice change of pace, and keeping my interest in the game going.

I mean, if you're not having fun I see no reason to continue with the job.

IMHO, DRG and MNK are the least cerebral jobs in the game.

Pretty much all you need to pay attention to is skillchains. Otherwise, it's just poke poke poke poke poke whack whack whack whack whack rinse wash repeat.

At least DRKs get to cast their debuffs now and then.

I did almost the same thing, except I kept my DRG's gear, so he's not totally naked if he should go DRG for some reason. Went RDM too...totally different change of pace, far more exciting, way more stuff to do and coordinate. Currently level 45, too.

Well, I hate to say it, but I pretty much gave up on Drg and this game for that matter.....Got 67 about a month ago. Don't have much incentive to play now. The higher levels suck too much. 4-5 jobs fighting for that 1 spot in a PT. Relying on making your own PT's. Can take anywhere from 5 mins to 4 hours just waiting for the right jobs to come on. Playing at 5 a.m. in the morning and not being able to read a single word of Kanji isn't what I consider fun either. Its sad, I really love the Dragoon job and got every conceivable gear for him too )=

You know for the past week we have been making LS party's now that i caught up Every night we say "damnit potsnu should log on". There are other things to fight besides skeletons. I hate skeletons

I had a really decent party in Boyahda fighting Darters tonight at 68. Exp was flowing nicely with a THF, pretty fast kills even though we didn't have a bard. Exp kinda sucked when someone got 70 but what can you do.

There needs to be flies at all levels! DRG do pretty good damage vs those ;p Got quite a few 500 dmg Penta Thrusts vs IT flies, Skewer was regularly doing 300-400 when we did the alternating Light renkei, and hit for over 100 standard melee quite often. They link and are bunched up quite often but if you have a decent RDM BLM or BRD it isn't a problem.

Try those, I think I'll stick with Darters for at least a few more levels before the pain of the 70's.

Going to give up Dragoon at 60 when I get Full AF. I see no reason to continue to grind at it despite I have a set PT atm. 65+ Dragoon gets slapped by Dark's.

My opinion in this matter is... DRG is not a job for everyone... it is tough to lvl, but not impossible at all. Indeed its going to require a lot more work and study, and a ungodly dedication, but why is that bad at all? Getting DRG to 75 is more of an achivement than getting PLD or BRD to 75, because DRG have to get there themselves. If you are the type that likes sitting around for awhile and get picked up and just whack stuff and XP fast... sure DRG is not for you, and thats definatly fine, but that doesnt mean that "DRG sucks". because imho if a DRG got to 75 means he has some serious balls and he worked very hard and studied a lot to get there.... thats why I would never refuse a PTcall from a DRG when i get to 60+.

I cant deny that DRKs often outdamage DRGs, but they deserve a lot of respect nevertheless. And frankly if you do your homework and work hard enough your name will get out there, and people might even invite you if you make up some fame... but nevertheless being the PT leader and having to find alternative places isnt entirely bad thing, there are a lot of people out there that finds this kind of challange very enjoyable, and do quite well.

My balls are massive, you're right. I've probably sat in Jeuno longer than anybody. This obviously gives me serious balls, as opposed to those non serious ones other people have.

You appear to have a different perception of what this game should be.

My perception is that ideally, no job should sit LFG for hours in Jeuno. The real world is that unfortunately, that's not the case.

Your perception seems to be that since DRG is an expansion job, LFG is and should be a necessary part of the job.

I think that describes EVERYONE. Do you honestly believe ANYONE likes to sit in Jeuno?

I don't pay my monthly fee so I can enjoy the scenery in Jeuno. I don't think anyone does. I don't think S-E's original vision involved people LFG for hours - it's just that it ended up that way, more so for dragoons.

BTW, Wheezing has been posting some VERY insightful replies that explain the dragoon situation. I would advise you read them over.
