Elvaan DRG what should i sub?

Hey all i am going to be a DRG and i need help deciding if that is right or if i should be a bard instead i really dont know any more before my mind was set on dragoon but now it has wondered over to bard but even so what should i sub as either of this if i am one of them. i need major help here because i am literally arguing with my self all the time about it. My friends sometimes even argue with me about it. please send info on what you think would work the best thanks!!!!

Is. Drg/Sam or Drg/War.

If you wanna renkei with yourself, then choose drg/sam (also good damage dealer.) Drg/War you get beserk which is a plus.

But I'd recommend maybe trying drg/rdm even though you will have a really low mp pool. But no harm in trying, eh?

I'd recommend all 3 of these, to try atleast.

The self renkai thing is harder with a DRG/SAM (not that self renkai is useful at all really, who cares about transfixion/compression) and not an option until 60+ anyway. Hell I self renkai'ed with a warrior sub, 72% penta thrust (double attack during Penta), swing immediately after, High Jump, Jump, and did Skewer. Not that it was especially useful or common but fun anyway.

I see you have leveled a RDM already which is an ok sub job for Bards. I've grouped with BRD with RDM sub so the long and short of that is this : you get Fast Cast which makes you sing faster sometimes, so not really huge, same single target heals, enfeebles (mostly the same as stuff you get with WHM, not that you'd be able to land them reliably), nukes you'd never ever use, lower mp, and no status cures or Curaga. WHM is generally more useful due to higher mp, status cures, Curaga/Divine Seal (nice downtime saver for BRD do divine seal/curaga, where as with RDM sub you cannot do that). While RDM is functional for a BRD, its really not useful to a DRG. Either way you are gonna have a crap tastic MP pool as an Elvaan with a RDM sub, and considering neither job gets ANY magic skills or MP, your magic skills are at what your sub jobs skills are at which is pretty low...which basically means the only spells you'd use which matter really are heals since those cannot be resisted/aren't as dependant on high skill to matter much. Mages shouldn't be subbed for melee jobs in an exp scenario really ever. Even a high level DRG with AF helm can get better use from a WHM/RDM sub with varying breaths, but they are damage dealers, not casters. People invite DRG to be damage dealers, not healers, so sub what makes you better at that.

Of course if you are just going to skim this and do your own thing, by all means. I'm just saying what is effective and what isn't.

Goes with Warrior, you can't go wrong with it. Warrior is the best sub for most melee, until you get really high level, than you can pick another class like Samurai, but until lev 60 Sam don't give you as much bonus as a Warrior.

If you really like to exp alot, well try all you want. Once you will hit the 35+, peoples that know the game will look for a solid Job/sub job to goes with there PT. If you select weird combo, they will ask someone else, btw there are plenty of Dragoon on my server, so if i doing a PT, i will select more classic combo, the one that will give me and my PT the more chance to survival and get exp as fast as possible. Try to keep you sub job allways to half your level, it will serve you better and you will get more chance to have invite in a PT.
