DRG/RDM. looking for hope

I am a taru rdm. I know my role and know how to handle what im doing, and still keep things intresting.
Im planning on doing the same with Dragoon. IM going to be a DRG/RDM. please anyone say anything you want. Im not trying to be the best anything. I just know its an intresting combo, and if i try real hard, which i will, i can make it work. Im almost there. Has anyone seen any High lvl DRG/RDM's? im just lookin for a lil hope here. i dont want to be incredibly discouraged. I know i can make this work. Debuffing and everything i will do my job. I dont know. Just say whatever

Everytime I read your post, I get a real headache.

You seem to be all "I can make it work." So why do you need some people to give you confirmation?

I assume you actually play this game, so what's stopping you from going /search all DRG 60- and seeing what high levels sub? I can assure you that none of them sub an RDM.

There's nothing discouraging about having a shitty job combination, besides being subpar.

i partied with a taru drk/blm and even they are somewhat laughable when they reach mid 40's.

so...try your best with drg/rdm. it'll work fine until you reach midgame.

Well the fact you only get MP from your sub job and not your main makes you a very limited caster. Also RDM gets no traits or job abilities which improve melee performance. Lastly, since your main has 0 magic skills, any skill in magic is based on your sub job - by higher levels you'll be lucky to not just get chain resisted on spells, and toss out a couple cures before you've outlived the usefulness of the red mage sub job. As a Taru you already have limited mleee capabilities compared to all other races, and a RDM sub doesn't help that.

Dragoon is a damage dealer, and thats it unfortunately. There are so many posts about "but what if I sub blah blah blah" - sorry to say, tried and true experience shows those simply do not work. You can call it inventive or original or unique, but whats important is what is effective, not going against the grain for no other purpose than wanting to be "different". In this game, "different" is mostly synonymous with selfish and ineffective. Sorry.

Two reasons. Either they are soloing, or when you have the AF helm the time the wyvern does heal breath chances from 33% hp to 50% hp, and since the breath heals for more because of the helm its fairly ok (situationally) in parties. Also higher MP pool than a RDM would get which helps some. Actually to be honest I've never seen a DRG/WHM over level 60 in an exp party - when you search are you looking at what areas they are in? Are they grouped? If its an area the DRG wouldn't gain exp in its possible they have to sub for sneak and invis to say find coffers or something. Might be useful if the DRG is helping some lower level with getting keys for something or a quest, otherwise all the DRG I've seen 60+ subbed SAM/WAR and to a much lesser extent THF. Personally I wouldn't want to sub a WHM in an exp party, like the RDM it doesn't add to your offensive ability. Besides, there are healing jobs already and there is such a thing as too much healing.
