As these classes are very similar, consider what your sterotype image will be as either class:
Dragoon: Man and his dog, Good Dmg, All rounder, melee, Powerful Pet, nice guy, jumps alot, freaky colours, "lone ranger", upholds order, loyal, trustworthy.
Dark Knight: Some sort of sick twisted mutilation between Black Mage and a Farmer, Insane Damage, fragile, black magic, self sacrifice, evil, backstabbing, self serving.
Dragoon has a positive "good" connotation;
Dark Knight has a positive "evil" connoataion.
