Super jump at 50. Yep, thats it. Most jobs stop getting new abilities/traits at level 50, and Dragoon has comparitively fewer job abilities/traits than other jobs.
The dual attack thing is if you have a WAR sub thats at lvl 25. WAR gets the ability at 25 so youd have to reach lvl 50 to get it with a different main.
"...because of my horse, I was able to get through my first year of college."
damn...well thanks... so iw as wondering after lvl 50+ is it better to sub a dragoon with a war? i was thinking of going dragoon/thief for sneak +trick attack at lvl 60 but im not sure anymore.... do the pros and cons of subbing war outweigh the pros and cons of subbing thief?
"do the pros and cons of subbing war outweigh the pros and cons of subbing thief"
that question has been argued on many boards over and over again. Basically a war sub will tell you war, and a thf sub will tell you thf, both have their advantages imo
I haven't leveled Thf at all, and prob am not going too. Warrior Sub just seems to fit better for me, would rather go for the beserk and double attack, but Thf has its advantages as well. I have missed double attack since I became a Drg and am looking foward to it with the 492 speed lance. Thfs will get sneak attack, and eventually trick attack, which arnt as powerful I'm told as a sub class, but still pack a nice punch. Warrior's provoke can help in certain situations, dragoons are not tanks, there are times that a mage will be in trouble and a Drg that provokes will get the agro off the mage. Then you have the problem of getting the agro off the Drg. But better the mob be on the Drg then the mage, and at higher levels the Drg can super jump once the tank can provoke and re-establish some hate. At level 50 a Drg/thf will get flee, which can save your ass. War sub gives an attack and defense bonus. The prob is that the 1st attack bonuses of job and sub job do not stack, so you gain no effect from that. You do get the defense bonus, which can't hurt, but is hardly crucial. Thfs also get bonus of the treasure and gill finder as well. I really like the War's beserk, because a Drg wont be tanking and can afford the defense loss (it can also be clicked off if you are in some trouble) and it lasts for 3 minutes and has a recast of 5 minutes, so you will be beserked for more then half the time.
Both are very good subs, and you can hardly go wrong with either of them.
I doubt that I will switch to Samerai sub at level 60 either. I will have to decide then. Alot of people who say samerai sub for Drg is the best, have never tried it, they are just looking at the advantages on paper. Currently with war sub, I seem to gain TP at a very high rate, and I dont even have penta yet which returns around 60 tp.
I check now and then on my server /sea all drg 60-70. Most have war subbed, a handful have thf subbed, few have mage subbed ( prob for soloing/farming ). I very rarely see Sam subbed and im not sure why. I do see alot of pre 60 Drgs with Sam subbed, a total waste, woo 3rd eye.
In response to Riva, i'm not totally clear but heard that attk/def bonues don't stack only if your sub and main have the same bonus for the same lvl. In my understanding (not always good lol) if you were to sub drk with a drg you would not recieve an attk bonus at lvl 20 because drk and drg have the same lvl 10attk bonus. but, you will for /drk and /war get the attk bonus at 60 becuase it is the second attk bonus, not the first one. Again I'm not sure but being that i am planning on being a drg/war i would like to know if it is true that i won' get a second attk bonus at 60. Thanks and again I'm not sure so any help would be appreciated.
i've tested /war and /thf.. personally I think /thf is a selfish SJ cuz 1) you're not a thf .. so don't try to take his job cuz you can't do it properly.. (sneak and trick aren't optimized so the hate displacement doesn't work that well)
2) flee only benefits yourself... if you run from a fight and let everyone die, just shows how selfish youare
3) steal only benefits yourself
4) sneak + trick + WS = only about 100 more dmg.. when using penta it only works on the first hit.. not really worth it.. with war sub you can double attack every hit in your penta.. 6 hit pentas are pretty common and makes up for the dmg + berserk.
I'm not saying pro /war.. I've started this game thinking /thf.. but i find that it's not a good party type sub
Other ones I still want to try are /drk /sam.. I'd like to see how well soul eater performs >:D
First off, treasure hunter is crap. No really it is. It doesn't make things die faster, therefore it isn't important. TH 2 is sort of a nice perk to grouping with a thief - TH 1, well no one groups with someone because they sub thief and think it'll get them more loot.
Sneak Attack damage is also super crappy, and you lose substantially more damage per regular hit subbing thief over warrior, and superb things like Double Attack at level 50. Quite often I penta and get 72% tp because Double Attack goes off during the Penta thrust. Also the dex difference is pretty negligable, its like 2-3 points, during which you also give up about 4 str.
Also if a DRG/THF is getting agro and fleeing a monster away, well your group already has enough problems that it had to come to that. DRG/THF is ok for solo farming low monsters, and thats about it.
Edit : 1 more thing. Berserk is often the difference when fighting high defense monsters between hitting for 20's and doing good damage. The ATK difference does matter quite a bit. Of course if you never fight anything with high defense or always group with a bard its not so bad...I haven't had the luxury of a bard in every single group I was in or only fighting average/low defense monsters.
