I am thinking it would either be redmage or whitemage. Since after reaching lvl 30/31 (been switching back and forth for quite awhile), getting in groups has become quite rare. I end up waiting for hours seeking group and not getting invites. Also i know 2 other dragoons I know who are both around my lvl who have the same problem. Me and one of them are thinking about switching jobs, but if i can solo decent with the right sub job i might stay dragoon.

Don't expect to be sought after even above 60+
Here's the problem. There's 500000000000000 damage dealers. You're one of them. You're replaceable. End of story.
As for a soloing sub, if you're farming in a way out of place area, I recommend the BLM highly. There's nothing like warping back with a backpack full of loots to sell :D
If you're exping then WHM is the way to go although some recommend BLM as well for the lower cost of poison (which allows you to get more wyvern heals off).BST 75 (Active) | BRD 75 (Active)
DRG 63 (Retired) | BLM 55 (Semi)
WHM 37 (Support) | NIN 37 (Support)

Even though there are more paladins then dragoon, paladins still get groups easier. Because paladins are the main tanks so every groups wants 1 or 2 atleast. But dragoons are just another damage dealing class. Monks, Dark knight, ranger, black mage, and more can all fill the same roll dragoon does, dealing damage.

Yes, every group does want one or two but since there are so many it might actually be harder to get a party where people arent flocking to.
