whats wrong with my Penta Thrust damage

It's that mithra pride they got going on. I'm curious to know where Hume fits into all this. Let me guess.....humes suck too. Humes are the smudge on your windshield you try to get off with your windshield wipers but can't.

... actually.. since I got penta, *maybe* 3-4 times so far I've missed a few hits and connected 3/5. Most of the time I connect all 5. So maybe I'm just lucky? Or being Mith really is nice for the DEX. ^^

And nothing's wrong with humes. I was a hume PLD remember? Hume are just balanced.. not the best but not the worst at any job.

Strength is nothing if you can't hit worth $%*#. In any RPG, when it comes to stats, you always have to add to your weakest ones to have a balance. Elvaan's are nice, but they have their weaknesses as well.

So again I ask, how is it possible to do 300-450 damage with a full connect pentathrust on Robber Crabs. Am I just totally utter shit doing 200ish damage at best with a full pentathrust?

I'm kind of disillusioned right now, I don't know why my penta damage is so shit even with a full connect =P

The advantage of penta thrust is not that it deals large amounts of damage in one use, but that it returns more TP than any other WS in the game so that it can be used again after a shorter delay--that's how the damage is done...

Yeah but read Fadedsoul's post. 300-450 damage is not trivial. That's the kind of damage that a Viper Bite or Piercing Arrow puts out. I do 1/2 that with my WS. If another Dragoon claims to do that much at the same level as me, fighting the same mobs as me, then either I'm totally fucking gimp or it's a blatant lie.

The problem is, I don't know which it is. Therefore, I'm looking for verification :O

well. I think I was a little unfair...

I have a bard in my set PT, and he boost my attack pretty high. And accuracy. Thats one little detail I neglected to mention, sorry :sweat:

but at 61 I have 82 dex, with alot of accuracy+ equipment. I rarely do miss, even without songs.

Out of curiosity, are you using the Grand Knight's Lance now? The +7 accuracy one that is. It costs 220k on my server and I only have half of that at the moment t.t

Ya, I got a grand knights lance. When you get rank 6, buy something then sell it and you'll have enough, thats what I did. Also, if you don't already have one, get a lifebelt.

Try camping argus for peacock charm too, when i'm not lazy thats exactly what I'll do. And save for sniper rings. only 300k for a pair which isn't all that much actually.

I can't wait to upgrade to Cermet(sp) Lance my, what a pretty weapon.

I have a lifebelt, and wearing a coral gorget too. The peacock charm is well, out of my reach. 3 million gil or wait for an eternity (3 day spawn I was told) versus 5 other people standing around alert with provoke.

Yes, bards can make a huge difference in how effective your pentathrust is. Without one, I did abot 200 or so tops on Robber Crabs..with one I would do almost 600 max. Problem was I couldn't use it very often or I would have been public enemy #1 during all the fights. lol You can only do Super and High Jump so often

ATK seems to make probably the biggest difference to high def monsters. From what you posted at having 270 something ATK, most of the time I am fighting I have bit over 300 without a bard and I'm not 50 yet (I do however use mithkabobs and berserk constantly ;p). So that is my only guess as to why the damage would be low on Pentathrust vs a higher defense monster.

Does that still remain true with the new monk WS that is 8 hits?

Monks get what 6 tp per hit? lances get 12, so 8 hits would be 48 but 5 lance hits would be 60 gain.

Dunno about monks tp gain on fists but if it is actually 6 then no their 8 hit ws still wouldnt gain more.

Beetles have insane evasion > < hate fighting those!
Also I do pretty bad damage against skeleton type monsters.
But fighting VT exorays (at lvl 50) I have no problem hitting those for high damage and destroying them with Penta.

There are lots of places to fight. Go somewhere that your class is good against those types. Elvaans do have much higher str, so you can hit harder than mithra's, and I dont normally like doing to many Penta's in one fight, can only use Super Jump once every while. Cant imagine what its gonna be like with a samurai sub.

Can paladins hold agro good at lvl 60+? or do you have to hold back sometimes. I know dark knights sure do ^^
