I am nearing the end my thief days, and soon will be entering my days of Dragoon'ness. I've heard the dragon is quite difficult and chances are I wont be able to do it at 30. What say you guys?

I did it with the help of a level 54 Paladin, but I've heard you can do it with a full group of 40+.

a 70 rdm helped me she owned it. try looking for help in San d'Oria the majority of Japanese players are extremely nice and help out a lot. and remember use tab!

I did it with the help of a level 60 Dragoon. If you're anything like me, *don't* do it that way. While I'm glad and grateful for his help, I left the fight feeling supremely dissapointed, due to the lack of challenge. If this sort of thing doesn't matter to you, get whatever help you can. If it does, note that a day or two later, I learned that a group had successfully defeated the dragon with levels 30 - 35, so if you can gather friends of that level together, you can probably do it, though it will likely be difficult and require a few attempts.

I just ran into an american guy that happened to be living in japan. he was bored, so i asked him to help. He switched to his 64 paladin and owned the dragon.

A well balanced party of 30-32 can defeat the dragon. The key is balance.

Due to the fact the fight is drawn out and he hits rather hard, I'd recommend 2 whms.

But you should do the quest anyways because the storyline is magnificent.

my group of all level 30's (THF, PAL, WAR,WAR, MNK, WHM) was able to beat it, however only 2 people from the party lived but once it died everyone was flagged for dragoon even those who died. i believe everyone had to use 2 hr abilites except for the thf. a final note, this was a long battle, had we had better damage dealer (like a DRK, RNG, maybe even a DRG at that lvl) rather than a second WAR i think we would have been able to kill it without anyone dying.

Another dragoon would definately give you the upper hand. Arcane circle would lower the damage from it's attacks, and its a whole party ability.
