  • Several Q's about Drg/Thf combo stats/abilities

    I am planning on making a Dragoon with either thief or warrior as the sub job.

    I am confused about how sub job alters the character's stats. I found a chart on 'Shadow Dragons' that says "starting bonuses from your job" it has Jobs in horizontal, stats in vertical and has +/- a few points for each stat depending on the job.

    First does sub job alter your stats, or just main job?
    Second how do stats increase as your character progresses and how is it infuenced by your job and sub job?

    There is also a chart with ability ratings. It has ratings for evade/shield/parry. Dragoon is rated as 'C' for evade and parry. Thief is rated as 'A' for evade and parry.

    I am told that taking thief as sub job will increase evasion skill. I know that thief has passive abilities to raise evasion.

    Question three: Does evade increase only because of the dexterety increase from taking thief as sub job as well as the passive abilities? Or will evade increase simply because the thief has natural kick ass evasion skill? That could also apply to Samurai and Ninja - if I took Samurai or Ninja as subjob would my Dragoon's evasion skill increase.

    Here is a link to the website with stat and skill charts for reference:
    http://www.shadow-dragons.com/index2.htm

    Question four: What does a rating of 'C' for parry and evasion actually mean? Does anyone know the game mechanics yet? Any idea how much you would parry and evade VS certain lvl range mobs with a rating of 'C' or 'A'?

    Question five: How much does the thief passive ability raise evasion? For example does it raise a 'C' to 'B' to 'A' or is it percentage increase? Does it have a more significant increase on a class that already has a high rated evasion than it would for a class like Dragoon with only mediocre evasion?

    What race makes the best Drg/Thf? I think Humes look the best in armor, or atleast from the screens I saw. Elvaan are second best, but I think they are the coolest overall. Good hp, and good Str for damage as well. It looks like Mithra might be the best, because of high dex. It seem like people on this board make dex out to be most important stat because of the chance to hit advantage.

    I would prefer to play a male character, but if the stats show a significant advantage for mithra I might play one, they are cool looking. How much of a difference would exist between each stat for hume/elvaan/mithra for a level 60 Dragoon?

    If you can give any examples or comparisons of specific stats that would be great. I will be satisfied with just finding out how significant the difference is in HP, damage per hit, chance to hit, hit rate etc

    My final question is this. I know it is largely based on opinion but I have to ask anyways. Do you prefer Warrior or Thf as subclass for Dragoon? Which is best for the most extreme fast damage? Which is does best damage overall? Which performs the best as a general, flexible 'any situation' Dragoon?

    I cannot express my appreciation enough to anyone who read through this post and can provide me with any helpful information.

    Thankyou.

      Well there are several Drg/thf threads that you can look at... It's more popular than Drg/mage.

      The A-G system is a comparative system. Usually a thf will evade and parry more than the same leveled dragoon I'm believing.

      Also race is the last feature to worry about... if you don't want to be a mithra then don't. You can always go for dex rings and such when it matters.
      Galka Cor 75/Rng 37 Bst 75/Nin 37 Blm 75/Whm 38
      Taru Rdm 61 / Blm 41 *retired*
      Mithra - Rdm 53, Pld 45, Blm 38, War 23, whm 36 *retired*

        Wow, thats alot to answer. There are some threads already started about the different effects but I'l try to help you out. By no means do I know if any of this is 100% true but Im pretty sure this is right. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

        1. I don't know the exact calculations but sub job will raise your statistics. You have the stats from your main job and race and then you gain some from your subjob. Pretty much you'll notice an increase in stats for the area the sub job accels in. A THF sub would bring you more AGIL and DEX while a WAR would give you more STR and HP.

        2,3,4 and 5 taken out due to Idealist's remarks, thanks for correcting me.

        6. Race dosent really make that much of a difference in stats, its maily appearance. If you are worried about the difference it all depends on what you want. Elvaan would give you a higher attack power and more hp, hume would be more rounded and have a higher agil and dex, mithra would have the highest agil and dex but lower power making you hit a little more but you have less power and hp. If you wanna see all the differences in stats run it through the stat calculator here. I'd say just pick the race you like the best.

        7. IMO THF is better, but many people do like WAR. If you would rather hit more but have a lesser chance of hitting go with WAR, if you don't mind loosing power for more accuracy and speed go for THF. All in all they both make pretty good combonations.

        Well I feel like crap today so some of that might not be comprehendable but I hope it helped.
        And then Trogdor smote the Kerrek, and all was laid to burnination

          The A-B-C rankings aren't just comparitive; they're part of a formula for determining the skill cap a given job gets each level. It works like this:

          A = 3.0*(level-1)+6
          B = 2.9*(level-1)+5
          C = 2.8*(level-1)+5
          D = 2.7*(level-1)+4
          E = 2.5*(level-1)+4
          F = 2.3*(level-1)+4

          So for instance, a level 20 dragoon would have a spear skill cap of 63, and an evade skill cap of 58.
