  • How quick can YOU gain TP?

To all the high level dragoons here, how quick can you get 100TP?

My current record is 25 seconds with thief sub (level 54).

I'm asking this because if warrior or any other subjob can get me 100TP quicker I may consider switching.

    Let me know! thanks
I really should thank you for it afterall it was your life that taught me the purpose of all life.....Purpose of life, is to end.

    I hate my life.

From 0? Samurai is the fastest. Nothing else comes close if you are looking to fast build your TP.

Well in that case Samurai still because of the extra TP passive added to the extra TP using a Lance grants. 14% per hit is aces when added to jumps and Penta Thrust for building up and back TP.

Hmm, next time I'll try to time it. When switching between a WAR or THF sub, I find that in general, WAR gets me more TP because of the "double attack" passive ablility.

Personally, after level 50 I became more and more partial to the WAR sub in level up parties due to double attack. If double attack triggers and hits, that's 24 TP instead of 12 TP. It not only triggers during regular hits, but it can also trigger during your jumps and during each hit of pentathrust.

I remember an incident back when I was level 50 fighting bats in Garlaige. I did pentathrust and saw that my TP bar was at 83%

(I was using a mythril lance +1 at the time, and there's a bug that makes the first hit give you 11 TP, not 12. It may be due to the high quality weapons having a lower attack delay, I'm not sure)

That amount of TP meant that double attack had triggered two times during my pentathrust, and that all 7 hits connected. I was pleasantly suprised.

Several seconds later, after a couple more attacks, I had enough TP to pull off another pentathrust (only 35 TP returned this time though  ).

The bad thing though, was that after the first pentathrust, all the hate was now concentrated on yours truly. It wouldn't be so bad if we were fighting the "single bat" series of bat monster. Oh no, we were fighting the "3 little bats" series of bat monster. So, I whimpered a little and prepared myself to drink a frosty mug of whupass, AKA jetstream.

The reason I didn't want to superjump right after the first pentathrust was because I had nearly enough TP for another pentathrust, and I didin't want to super jump, get rid of the hate, pentathrust, and then have all the hate come back at me again. Instead, I switched out my sniper rings with phalanx rings using my macro in order to boost my defense. Jetstream still did ludicrous amounts of damage to me though, and the white mage really lOVED that.

Ah, that's probably why I only got 3 hits out of my second pentathrust, I was still wearing my phalanx rings. Anyway, after I did pentathrust for the second time, I got my ass out of the fray with super jump and let the paladin resume his proper role of meat shield.

Anyway, the above situation is not usually what happens. On average, I'd say that double attack usually triggers zero to one times each pentathrust.

I could be wrong, maybe it triggers more often and I'm just not connecting with my hits. The only time you have an animated visual cue as to when double attack triggers is when you are doing a regular attack. In that case you see your character attacking twice in a row. You can also see it on your log, too.

It's hard to gauge how many times double attack triggers on weapon skills because the only cue that it did trigger is if your TP indicates that you hit more than you're supposed to. (6+ hits for penta, 3+ hits for doublethrust, 5+ hits for guillotine, etc.) If double attack triggers, but you miss the attack anyway, since your TP doesn't show any sign of extra attacks, you have no idea if double attack really even triggered at all.

I guess this goes to show the importance of accuracy up items for any melee class, and dragoons, especially.
