DRK info for a Xbox 360 newb.

I'm obviously new and just started so I don't have any items or money really, so great items are out of the question right now. What I want to ask is if I'm going to be a DRK and choose a Hume, will it really cripple me compared to choosing a Galka? I don't want to make this game harder than I heard it is. I like Humes because they look much better than Galkas IMO but I don't want to be a gimped DRK. Can I go with Hume or should I think about switching to Galka?
