Are Spiral Hell and Ground Strike basically only cosmetic WS?

  • Are Spiral Hell and Ground Strike basically only cosmetic WS?

    I'm wondering I just got my Scythe of Trials and both my GS and Scythe are high enough to unlock their Trial weapon WS, but I am asking do Spiral Hell and Ground Strike really do anything. From what I've heard they basically are the same as their prior WS and that Spinning Slash is still more powerful then Ground Strike. Of course I still am going to eventually get these WS but should I really not care about getting them cause no one will care in a party if I don't have them (they don't even unlock new lvl 3 renkei options like Savage Blade, Asuran's Fist, etc).

    At 300% TP the Quest WS' are very nice.


    However, you will hardly be saving 300% and then use WS. At 100% the Quest WS have very similar dmg to the lvl 225's, but Spinslash does have a better avg damage than Groundstrike.

      Spiral Hell is definitely worth getting. It is capable of very high damage (2000+) with a lot of tp, significantly higher than spin slash. But again, this is only with 200+ tp so you don't really want to use it in xp group.

      Ground strike is nothing special, even with 300tp its modifier is less than spin slash at the same tp. It does have a higher bonus from str/int but it's not really enough to ever warrant using it over spin slash.

        While doin quests/missions farming trigger items for gods 300 tp spiral hell is god send JUST sata yoor tank with it and the blms can nuke for a while without a worry specialy if you do darkness renkei with your spiral

          Having recently gotten Spiral Hell (currently working on Ground Strike), the only other thing I can add is that while the overall damage from Spiral Hell at 100% TP isn't too hot, it is a one hit WS, so when used in tandem with SATA you dont risk losing a significant amount of damage like when Cross Reaper misses its second hit. On average Spiral Hell with SATA I can hit for about 600-700 on an IT mob, with 300% its been about 1700-2100 (not practical for xp PT).

          Since Spinning Slash is already a one hit WS, Ground Strike seems to be a bit of a downgrade since its more reliant on TP for damage, but I have no personal numbers to say with certainty.

          Personally, i'm very disappointed in SE for making these quests for WS (at least for DRK) that have very little practical improvement over the 225 WS. :confused:

            I don't know... i still think the utility of Ground Slash should be nice... I don't have it yet, so maybe it sucks SOOOOO bad that it's utility is void. But the ability to do Light and Dark with greatsword seems like a good thing to me.
