Are Sniper rings really worth it?

I just sold my Rabbit Charm for 200k and need to save up another 90k to get my first Sniper ring...will this really make a difference in my connecting hits? Would you say that they are definitely worth it? What about 2 DEX+3 rings?

someone told me that accuracy is better then DEX. Not sure how true it is. All I know is imma be doing alot of crafting to get these rings....:dead:

yes acc is far better then dex. just think of it this way with +10 dex that boils down to around +5 acc

once you get your first big acc item be it snipper rings or a lifebelt
you will see a improvment with +10 dex i was hiting maby 6 out of 10 times on a it at 47 when i dinged to 48 and straped on my lifebelt i was missing 1 or 2 times out of 10 on the same it's now you can go with out a pair of snippers just do the best you can with dex eq and no one really expects you to have 2 of them any way there expensive no matter what server your from. but they do expect you to have a lifebelt once you hit 48. i stoped my lvling dead in its tracks to raise the 70k they run on my server
(mind you i lucked out and a lot of the high end items have been on a price slide on my server)

now dex its good to have some +dex on you i have heard and a seen that with more dex you do more crits but still all the crits in the world are not going to save your pt if your wiffing all the way through your souleater or bloodweapon. and they seem to get a bit peeved at you when you miss you ws and they loose a 1k+ mb

Snipers are worth it, definitely. When I equipped my first one I'd hit +2 times more per 10 swings. With the second that increased to +3 to +4 times per ten hits (making me hit around 8 swings out of 10 at 43 on IT mobs).

try to get them as early as possible but if you slack before lv60 you will really notice how important they are by then.

Thanks for the quick replies. I'm currently at 41 so I'm assuming my first one will definitely help. I saw a DRG a few weeks ago at level 40 with 2 of them.

Can you do with one and not 2?? I would NEVER in my soon to come ffxi days be able to get that money for both when i hit 40. Can i just get one at like 40ish, then my life belt at 48 then maybe at like 53 get another ring?? That seems like a good aproach at it.

Well, i've been struggling with this but i've finally came to the decision that they do indeed help. I thought they weren't but then Hisdon slapped me and told me I was fighting mobs that I shouldn't be.:spin:

So I went to what I SHOULD be fighting and yeah, I can hit all the damn time now. However, if you constantly party with a THF and NIN, I would strongly encourage you to invest in 2 phalanx rings. More than likely, you'll be the trick partner for the thief and the one that provokes the mob in the beginning while the thief sets up behind the ninja. Remember that 1 sniper ring has -10 defense tagged to it. -20 has just turned our already paper defense into nudity. I learned this the hard way and got one shotted by sickle slash (Boyahda Spider). You'd be suprised how slow some thieves are at tricking onto people.:mad: I had a friend who graciously let me borrow one of his phalanx rings and boy it helped. Just set up a macro to switch the phalanx rings with the snipers and vice versa. It works great.

Learned this a couple weeks ago. 3 deaths inside of 4 hours, and I didn't even have the sniper rings ><. I like the theory behind a nin tank, I've just never been in a pt that could do it....
