while this isn't confirmed by s-e, no, such gears won't make any difference. that's what the previous post is misleading u to.

I had posted two charts in the general forum. As stated, I have no idea where they came from, thus I take no credit for them.

Also on the topic of Attack/damage versus skill up speed, I have noticed a big improvement when your overall damage is lower.

I happened to skill up my Great Sword along with a LS mate 13 levels higher then I was at the time. We started at about the same skill level but my skill growth vastly outpaced his. This was despite him landing hits way more often then I was, and the only reason I can think of to explain it was his use of a higher damage weapon along with much higher strength.

The only reason I can see a higher level mob slowing you down otherwise would be poor hit rate. No hit, no skill up. That's why I would suggest grabbing a braveheart (+5 Accuracy and low damage) and hack away on a a mob that fits your weapon skill. Just avoid anything that cons High Evasion.

Number 1, shame on you for letting your GS skill slide. Good thing I didn't make that mistake.
I capped Great Sword as warrior, all the way up to level 30 Warrior. then I switched to DRK and started leveling Scythe. At level 28 (I think that's where it begins) I started leveling both weapons again. However, I leveled too fast (at around level 35 onwards) to cap both weapons.

My only explanations as to how you managed to keep both weapons capped while I didn't is:

          a) you died a lot more and therefore killed on average a lot more monsters (since it took you longer to level) thus capping both weapons.

          b) Your parties were xping on considerably less xp-efficient mobs, in a less xp-efficient manner and thus you got to hit more things before leveling, thus capping both your weapons.

Basically, since level 1 Warrior I have been aware of the necessity to keep both weapons cappped and I have tried my best to do so. However, in the manner in which I partied and gained levels, it has simply been IMPOSSIBLE to keep both weapons capped. End of story.

            My experience keeping both capped:

I have been completely blinged on gear since lv1 DRK, equipping every single piece of +acc gear that exists right at the level you could wear it(except squires mufflers). I didnt' have to start capping both while leveling DRK until about 34. In lv33 i had +14 acc and +7 DEX and i still could not cap both skills. I had this problem right up until about 47 when i started doing genkei groups.

up until lv44 GS lagged about 3 levels behind. Then in lv45 i got an amazing xp group in yhoator. The group didn't care about my gimped skill they just wanted Power Slash > Viper Bite > Waterga II. I picked up 2.5 levels and my GS passed my scythe and it was scythe that was 2 levels behind. In 47 i started doing genkei groups and didn't stop until both were capped.

I stopped using GS in xp groups at 49 entirely until lv54 however so i didn't have to go through the hassle of buying and reselling Fausser. At 54 i just bought Darksteel GS, and then joined lich groups until it was about 165. Then i capped it in coffer key groups.

For reference you should be able to take GS to 168 just on lich parties.

the problem with only skilling up in xp parties is the fact the only certain renkeis are wanted.

and sometimes you're forced to use a maxed weapon even if you want to level the other one.

my great sword is only 195, and i seriously can't stand levelling it, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Yeah i am expecting that at lvs 60-66 no one will want me to use anything but scythe, ever, regardless of wether or not i need to cap GS. Then at 66 they will probably expect me to magically have GS capped.

                /sigh

                c'est la vie.

why wouldn't they let you use GS? GS chains better. Use Thf Sub for Crescent/Sickle Moon or war for power slash the dmg is gimp but it's still -acceptable-.
