Are sniper rings worthless post lv70?

i am currently using 2 sniper rings for my drk/thf
i've been bringing my smithing skills up, so i'm only lv67
for other equips, yes i do have haubergeon+1(self made), amemit+1,bomb core etc...

i never planned to take out my sniper rings before, but recently read a lot about drk's preferring +4str/dex rings

if the +str/dex is better, should i sell my peacock/ryl grd collar for ... umm ... spike necklace? -_-;;; and instead of buying balmung, should i juss make myself a Nagan? it has +2 dex -_-;;;

those lvl74 rings with +5stat/+2stat/-2stat rings are 1.5mil each, but none for sale ; ; in Bismarck, sniper ring+1 is 2mil.. and 3 sold -_-;; not to mention never up on AH..

as lv67, i still miss sometimes doing VT~IT mobs in exp pt (even with a BRD) so it never came up to my mind that i'll be tossing my sniper's.. but now i'm starting to think about it

because if +str/dex equips are better than +att/acc equips, i would be wearing
: hume RSE gloves/AF gloves + leaping boots + emperor hairpin
instead of thick gears -_-;;;;
...and i haven't seen anyone doing that yet from the lv70+ =.=;;

i'm not saying +att/acc is better or not, just asking how the +str/dex equips are considered "better" among higher lvls

you can give up the snipers at 75 if you so wish and opt for +4+5 dex etc.

till then, using them won't hurt

I really don't see any reason to get rid of them, just macro switch to the +STR rings for the skillchain. That's the main source of damage anyway, +8-10 STR doesn't seem to make a huge difference on normal hits. They'll also still help against hnm's with high evason.

EDIT: For a more direct answer to your question, at 75 most leveling mobs are only VT at most to you so they're not all that hard to hit, I think that's why some melees opt to invest in other stats besides acc. But you can never really have enough attack, especially when talking end-game. Increasing attack further will always yield increasing benefits because you'll never reach the 'soft cap' on high-level mobs. For drk/thf, I think the best course is to keep acc. buffs on while gaining tp, and to have the most STR/atk you can get for the weaponskill. Since it's a guaranteed critical with sneak attack, I really can't see a reason to invest in DEX. This is just my opinion though, others may see it differently.

2nd EDIT: by the way, you said you're on Bismarck....any chance you could craft me a Nagan? :D

I agree with you mostly, but SA + TA damage is largely based on your DEX (unlike, I believe, regular critical hits which are based on STR, but the likelihood of them happening is based on DEX, Not 100% sure about this but I think so). From the point of view of an Elvaan, I probably will keep my Sniper Rings at 75 (because against mobs above my lvl, i.e. HNMs they'll still be pretty mandatory) but no doubt I'll fiddle around with some +DEX and +STR rings to see how I perform with them too. The only time I could see myself doing away with the snipers entirely is if I had a peacock charm, since the +acc from that means I can use my ring slots for +DEX or +STR.

as of myself, i'll keep the sniper's and.. ummm think about the +str rings again when i'm actually that high of a lvl -_-;
i spend more time starring at the AH.. even if i have nothing to sell -_-;

oh yeah..., i've been wearing valk mask.. and had AF3 equip macro on souleater macro, and switched back to valk mask manually whenever i cancelled it.. i guess i was just wasting effort ... - -;; [edit] cancelled it -> souleater

but honestly... drk AF3 + haubergeon... do NOT match!! ; ;
especially with the ugly hume stance with BOTH GS AND SCYTHE! (envies elvaan/mithra/taru(tarus look good on all kinds of armors and any kind of weapons T-T ))
but imo... AF3 > Celata - -;; so yea.. i guess i'll have to start getting used to it... (was planning on wearing valk mask until... like forever -_-;; )

just that, at this rate, i will be able to reach smithin90 soon when i reach drk70, i can barely make hauberk(cap 89) with adv support >.>;; (only made 2 so far, failed once but didn't lose haubergeon -_-;;; i always hope for mog enhancement to kick in ; ; didn't buy those yellow jars for nothing!)

A patch waaaaay back in the day, long before NA release was even confirmed, sneak attack did full dmg for main and sub so everyone and their grandmother subbed thf. Square then fixed that by making sub thfs sneak just do a regular critical attack, so from that point dex no longer modified thf subs sneak attack. Trick attack, however, is still modified by AGI with both main and sub

IMO u need to make a mix of Strg,Dex,Atack,Accuracy.You shouldnt be using just Accuracy equip.For an example:I prefer Royal Guards necklace than Peackock.You should have enough Accuracy.Thats why Haubergeon/hauberk uis soo good.It has all those stats that u need.I think AF3>Valks cause 5strg is something unreal.Having a mix of those stasts would be great since ull hit hard,Hit a lot,DO lots of critical.

I recently sold my Sniper's rings for a total profit of 310k since I bought them months and months ago. At one point, I had +43 ACC and I still missed as much as I ever did against ITs. It seems that a BRD's madrigals are the only things that we can rely on. I believe ACC caps, and at that point, you should raise its related stat. For instance, STR raises your maximum potential damage per hit whereas ATK raises your average. In order to raise your damage per hit, you have to raise your potential with STR and then ATK. It's the same with DEX. I sold my Sniper's and notice no difference. I currently have +33 ACC. The Thick set (Hauberk included), Life Belt, Assault earring, Royal Guard collar all seem to do the job.
