  • DRK/SMN ur feelings?

A few people i have talk to in and out of my LS have been pondering if it would be worth while to do DRK/SMN seeing as u have all avatars and is leveled to complement ur main job, just for a different job combo and if it would be effective?

Really completes the image of a "Dark" Knight(s) when he/she/it has trusty Carbuncle by his/her/its side.

I actually think it would be a fun combo to play around with (dark knight walking around with fenrir at his side would look pretty cool) but there isn't much practical use to it. You'd get a decent mp boost and have some useful abilities to play around with, but that's about it. Your avatars would be too weak to really do anything, and with the mp cost of using the avatars you'd run out of mp really fast (real summoners can have mp pools of well over 1000, you're not gonna be anywhere close to that).

              i would try it if:
              a. I was a galka
              b. I had a set pt

cause unfortunatly, pt leaders dont praise originality

Hmm lets see what you are giving up by using smn then what you are gaining by using smn.

                  You lose:
                  Extra HP
                  Extra Str
                  Berserk
                  An added defense bonus
                  and Provoke

                  You gain:
                  Extra MP
                  Increased MP recovery
                  ability to use summons

If you plan on being a drk that lets his pet attack while he is casting spells then gets into the fight after he is about 50% through his MP then that may work but drks being the melee dmg dealers that they are this doesn't seem like a great idea to me. Since drks dont take hits very well it doesn't seem like a good idea to rob them of hp vitality str and def bonuses. Would be neat to see though.

yeah dude its so wrong. its so wrong cause square said so... haha thats just bull crap. it is something cool to run around with dark an summon infrit. just think how cool that would look. a drk with full af summoning infrit. it would give the drk that evil pet that some so want..

the downside is you would not get much pt invites. cause its second job brings lil too a pt. an most people will look down on you cause it doesnt fit into a cookie cutter aspect of the game.. i dotn think there is anything wrong with it. might see me sub it, when i can get the ability to sum infrit.will make farming a lil bit funnier

You'd be able to keep Ifrit out for like how long before you completely run out of mp? 10 seconds? Sorry but that doesn't sound "cool" to me.

lol i think it be longer then ten secs. considering at lvl 60 a hume drk would have a total of 248mp. then add in the 30 lvls of a smn into the mp pool with its mp bonus. an you my friend get way more then 10 secs..

of course if its a taru. then the total magic will be higher. they might be able to pull it off. plus you can always add mp gear to raise it even more. so it can be done, an done for longer then 10 secs.

maybe as an elvaan or a galka this might be harder considering they get crap for mp. and seem to run out of mp quicker then the other class's.

but as for the other 3 class's :p a total of 10 seconds??? dont make me luagh :p

Half-level Summons will suck against what you'll be fighting...

Level 30 Ifrit vs level 60 Monster = Ifrit can't even scratch it, not to mention hit it..

And you don't have enough MP pool to use the special abilities of summons, unless you start sacrificing your ability to Absorb/Drain.
