DRK Advanced Job Quest Questions

Ok, Hey. I'm planning on becoming DRK/THF.

And I have some question about the Advance Job quest.

Do you have to be a WAR to do the quest or can you be some other class [ thf for ex. ] Do you have to have the chaosbringer equipt and use it to battle the 100 monsters with? Can you equip it somewhere else? Any tips you have for the quest would be aweomse, ty for yur answers in advance.

The Chaosbringer is only equippable by DRK and WAR. It's very very weak (designed that way) so it would be wise to have a warrior stronger than just level 1, and se the chaos bringer.

Just devote some time, and slay 100 of those super weak monsters outside of town. Your killing blow must be a normal swing. You can not kill any of the 100 monsters using a magic spell OR a WS.

Play it safe, just kill 100, then kill a few more just in case your count is wrong. After this, just bring the Chaosbringer to Beadeaux which is in the southeast part of Passhow marshlands. No need to be war, no need to have the chaosbringer equipped, the sword has already been stained with blood, just bring it there. I brought it there with my thf on a chocobo.

Also, i suggest being a DRK/WAR to 60. You'll have a much better time in PTs, berserk etc is going to help your dmg output alot more. just my 2 cents, good luck ^^

I think you could do it with a level 1 war, but it might be pretty tedious. You'd gain some war levels doing it though. The finishing blow must be a normal hit with Chaosbringer for that monster to count toward the quest, but you can still use other attacks - pull with archery, for example. Or sub BLM and pull with Stone - at very low levels war/blm isn't as bad as it is later on, and it might give you some practice in DRK tactics like pulling with magic, casting between swings, balancing MP and TP usage so you can sit with minimal TP loss because you just used it.

The other piece of advice I'd add: as soon as you finish Blade of Darkness, go back to the same Galka in Bastok and get Blade of Death. Then start leveling your level 1 DRK with Chaosbringer. It will again be slow, but when you get another 100 kills you can trade it in for Deathbringer, which is the best DRK weapon you can equip until at least the mid-teens.

The level 0 monsters are really easy even with Chaosbringer, so you might as well do the quest and get some exp for your new DRK at the same time. And then you won't have to buy a weapon for a while.

When you go to Gusgen to trade in Chaosbringer (for Blade of Death), be careful - there are some NMs that can hang around near the pools. Again you can come as any job, but a level 30 may have trouble with some of the NMs.

I just heard about the 2nd set of 100 kills today. It's a level 5 Great Sword you get, right?

Sounds fun to me. I'll be getting DRK this weekend. My linkshell is doing a lvl. 10-75 static party and I chose to be the Dark Knight. So i'll definitely be getting that nice weapon.

It doesn't matter if you level WAR or not. With BLM sub on it makes up the difference easy. Though you'll most likely be going with /WAR so getting it to a decent level is recommended. When I did the Blade of Darkness I went as lv. 1 WAR/BLM and just killed the worms outside of Bastok (Don't fight the Bee's they'll screw-up your count if they use "Final Sting" since it doesn't count as you killing). Any easy count with this is just continue to fight the worms right outside Bastok till you hit lv. 5 WAR, that should be about 120 kills if you do that.

Then when I did Blade of Death I went around the same area as DRK/BLM. Even easier to do then WAR/BLM because you get more MP to play with and again just do the same till DRK hits lv. 5 and you'll know for certain you have over 100 kills. If you kept your original Chaosblade when you did the first quest then you only need to get 100 kills to finish this one, if you tossed you original Chaosblade then you have to get 200 kills to finish this one.
