Drk/Sam good idea

Well my friend was tellin me that since all my stuff got erased he told me to make another person so i was wondering is a drk/sam good and what two races would be better a taru or a hume?

I think the reason is, while itself is good, there are so many better subs for it... mainly DRK/War and then DRK/THF after 60

also Taru would suck cuz u already are gonna have low defense as a DRK

A friend told me DRK/SAM is useful for some NM fights when you need tp for spirits within, but I really wouldn't know being only in lv33.

Yeah, /Sam is good for HNM fights where all the melees do is charge TP and then Spirits within, but /War or /Thf are better combos for EXP parties.

It sucks, I wasted a month levelling that stupid job to 31. In level up PTs it blows ass. Only when you are fighting HNMs and need Spirits Within is it halfway decent.

argh.... i was planing on doing DRL/SAM i have SAM at 20 at the moment..... i though Store TP was good was thinking lots os WS with drk -_-.... s0000 /war then at lv60 /thf?

DRK/SAM is a machine. you will love playing as it, because you will completely dominate any class in the game in terms of damage.

your guillotine spams will dominate a ranger and a blm.

the only problem with this is, you will probably die

Unless you have a SMN in your party who can spam blink on you, and a pld who will cover you after the blink wears, you are going to get owned.

Although you will have Meditate, it wount help much at all. You will only maybe get one extra guillo in between renkeis. But your damage is lower, i missed a helluva lot more as /sam. I would rather have higer constant damage with the atk up bonus that /war gives and berserk etc.

Oh ya, and don't bother subbing THF until 65 unless your PT leader asks you, it usually doesn't help too much with Guillo, but with cross reaper it almost doubles your damage

your guillotine spamming will do a whopping 200-300 damage each time, you'll gain tp slower, and 60 tp once every 30 minutes won't help.

I highly doubt that Mikasa is really lv62 like his profile claims. Every single lv60+ drk that I've talked to has told me that the only real good thing about guillotine is the farming aspect...which is no longer there...so yeah. It is your first good ws though, but Cross Reaper and Spinning Slash are CLEARLY better.

You still won't outdamage a blm though (1k non am burst? 580 and 600 damage spells outside of burst? K thx bai.), but it really won't matter. Things die so fast in a drk/thf, x/x, pld/war, rdm/blm, brd/whm, blm/whm party that there's really no point in comparing damage anymore. Why bother when the mobs is dead basically before you pull it ^^

I've never seen drk/sam used to spam guillotines, only to chain with the two other melees with other WS like vorpal scythe. The lack of damage from regular attacks is pretty noticeable so only a drk with top notch equips can get away with subbing sam and not be gimp.

Granted, before the TP nerf Guillotine --> Raging 2-3 times a fight was pretty insane with sam sub, but you only get to do this for 5-6 levels before thf sub takes over. You also have to PT with a war to skillchain. Imo, rasing sam to lvl 30+ just for 5 levels isn't worth it, and with the TP nerf--seems useless. Maybe if you go hnm hunting later it might be useful in special situations.

Meditate isn't a 30 minute abilitiy...and Mikasa is a 62 DRK.

You must have uber gear cause I've watched the adjacent damage output of Elvann DRK and their regular hits are not 120 per swing. I will admit that my regular swings are 80-85 (my criticals are barely 120 o_O), but Elvann swings on these coerls in Onzozo are going for 90-95. 120? even a decked out ranger can barely hit that mark. For reference, the ranger in my ppt hits for 90-95 using scorpion arrows (24 dmg), switch to demon arrows (34 dmg) and she'll close that gap.

These numbers are with meatkabob only, no other attack enhancing job abilities, ie. no Berserk. Here's my gear, with 10-12 more base STR being Elvann compared to Mithra @62, I would really like to know where the 50% greater damage per swing is coming from. Please do tell, cause I must be equiping the wrong items.

So Drk's doing Spirits.. I knew many Drks who were doing this in HNM fights. I was still unsure about how effective it is against other scythe/GS WS'.

At least spirits is lvl 175 ;p not too much to lvl up.
