The only advantage melee have is they can add damage without spending some type of resource, whereas a BLM can only add damage at the cost of MP. BLM also deal damage in larger sums at bigger intervals compared to melee who deal smaller sums at regular intervals, and at high levels, level 3 renkei do significant damage not just from the weapon skills, but often the skillchain damage can be 500-1000+ (depending on monster resists, whether have threnody or not, etc) with the right chain. The all BLM as damage dealers party in your example is one that I bet wouldn't ever see chain 5 simply due to the downtime and lack of regular damage. It just amounts to resource management.

The TP nerf basically made melee boring as hell to play, far more so than before (especially DRG), and didn't do anything to help them in the long run. In the end game though, melee really are fairly unimportant compared to mages. Yes, they are important if you want to have an efficient exping party. Beyond that, a LOT of melee desireability drops down the toilet. Even with the changes to monster TP, BLM damage is still better since in many HNM fights, melee can't even do decent damage outside of Spirits Within.

Not exactly sure what you mean. Last EXP party I was in was:

WHM/BLM, BLM/WHM, BLM/WHM, BLM/BRD, PLD/WAR, DRK/WAR

Only problem is mana regen, but that's the topic of many other threads.

BTW, unless you're going to Ancient something to death, you need the second melee to set up skill chains. Battles with skillchains and 2x Aeroga II, 1x Thunder II, and 1x Aero II (me) bursts were on average 30 seconds long.

Chain6 regularly, kill speed is incredible, they get easily 5-6k an hour ^^

this is the only viable construction for a BLM dmg PT, with blinks/stoneskins etc as protection. they juggle aggro around, and the mob dies so fast. Very rarely do accidents occur

Not sure what you mean about Plds not being able to hold hate because of TP gain. What kind of Plds have you grouped with that needed to spam a WS to hold hate? WS's are just something Plds do if they have to (forced to do a SC against our will), or because we just happen to get 100% TP. It's not gaming breaking to us, and none of us cared about our TP in the first place =Þ

Hate is separate for each one, holding hate off 3 is no different than holding hate off 1.

yep these all blm and 1 brd party was chain 6'ing in dragons aery like no tomorrow i seen all of them level atleast twice. I asked the bard what the exp was like he said chain 6's and 6.2k exp/hr

I've heard it before said that when someone brings up giving Refresh to a WHM, all the RDM's bitch cause they'd never get invites and be useless...yet no one ever thinks about it and says, "wait, they already did this to the melee, it's not right, they should be different." instead, we get "stfu and stop bitching, play a mage job then and then you can talk shit." from the mages...I see injustice...in my experience us melee have, and never will, get respect on the hole. We are looked upon as scum, not people, unlike the PLD's, BRD's, RDM's and other mages who love each other so maybe I've jus had bad expierences with the people I knew who passed me up who are/were these jobs, and never really gave a damn about their melee friends, jus the mages and PLD's.
