    I'm currently working on a guide on ws/skill chaining. I'm on the part wherei take all weapons 1 by 1 and do a few comments and their ws.

    I would like to get some info on crescent moon and sickle moon ws. I've been unable to find info on those 2 since GS is kinda a forgotten weapon from 49 to 65.

    Here's the part i have wrote about GS and scythe, feel free to correct any mistake written. Credit will be given and a reference to this thread will be added if some usefull info comes out of it.

    Great Sword
    Probably one of the favorite weapon among lower levels warrior, the great sword got average delay making it slower than polearms but faster than great axe, scythe. This weapon is popular because of the cool factor of wielding a 2h sword. After lvl 30 it's fairly rare to see a great sword since war prefer to use axes, pld use monstly sword/shield and drk scythes. The great sword ws selection is ok at lower levels, but tend to lack during mid levels.

    Hard Slash 10 Earth
    Power Slash 30 Light
    Frosbite 70 Ice
    Freezebite 100 Ice, Water
    Shockwave 150 Water
    Crescent Moon 175 Earth
    Sickle Moon 200 Earth, Thunder
    Spinning Slash 225 Light
    Ground Strike 250 Light

    Hard Slash : 1hit, more tp = more dmg
    This ws is probably the best one great sword has to offer for a while, it deals good dmg, making it the only reliable dmg ws till higher levels at crescent moon.

    Power Slash 1hit, deals critical dmg, more tp = more critical chance
    Like all ws in " deals critical dmg " category, power slash dmg will be extremely variable. Hard slash is better for dealing consistant dmg. I would recommend using power slash only when you need it sc wise.

    Frostbite : elemental, ice dmg, more tp = more dmg
    This ws deals ice dmg, unless you fight something with very high defense it's probably better to use hard slash. A ws more for scing than dealing dmg.

    Freezebite : elemental, ice dmg, more tp = more dmg
    Upgrade of frosbite, freezebite will deal more dmg than it. Still it's more a ws used for scing rather than raw dmg.

    Shockwave : ae ws, put ennemies to sleep, more tp = higher radius
    Like most AE ws this one is probably more used for farming lower level mobs than fighting in groups. The sleep effect of this ws could be usefull in some groups situations still, but i don't know how long the effect can last.

    Crescent moon : 1hit, more tp = more dmg
    Not much info on this one.

    Sickle moon : 2hit, more tp = more dmg
    Upgrade from crescent moon, i haven't found much info on this ws beside that.

    Spinning Slash : 1hit, more tp = more dmg
    This ws can finish a lvl 3 light sc. This ws is really usefull for drk since it enable them to end lvl 3 light sc with GS and lvl 3 dark sc with scythe using cross reaper.

    Ground Strike : 1hit, more tp = more dmg
    This ws can finish a lvl 3 light sc. Dmg is lower than spinning slash at start, but if you have over 200% tp this ws will deal more dmg than it.

    Scythe
    Scythe is the A+ weapon for dark knight and the most used weapon by the player of this class. Some warrior also use it because they plan on becoming a drk. Ws wise scythe can be qualified as a end game weapon since it’s more powerfull ws come after 60 and the pre-60 ws don’t offer as much as other weapons can.

    Spinning Scythe 125 Water, Earth
    Vorpal Scythe 150 Light, Earth

    Cross Reaper 225 Dark
    Spiral Hell 250 Dark

    Slice : 1hit, more tp = more dmg
    The 1st scythe will be your main tool for consistant dmg for while, overall it’s a good ws that deals a decent amount of dmg. It’s earth element makes it good to end a distorsion sc.

    Dark Harvest : elemental, deals dark elemtal dmg, more tp = more dmg
    This ws deals ok dmg, use it if the monsters got a very high def. Otherwise i would say stick with slice.

    Shadow of Death : elemental, deals dark elemtal dmg, more tp = more dmg
    This ws is the upgrade of dark harvest which deals more dmg. Overall it’s a good ws to use for dmg and chaining for causing a fragmentation sc.

    Nightmare scythe : 1hit, blind ennemy, more tp = longer blind duration
    This ws will deal ok dmg and blinds the ennemy. Good if you want the extra debuff effect, but overall slice will deal more dmg especially if you got over 150% tp. Good for chaining if you need a dark elemental for chaining.

    Vorpal Scythe : 1hit, deals critical dmg, more tp = more critical chance
    Like all ws in the « deals critical dmg » category, vorpal scythe dmg will be highly variable. A ws more usefull for chaining than for raw dmg output.

    Guillotine : 4hit, silence ennemy, more tp = longer silence duration
    This ws is viewed as one of the scythe line strongest one, since it does deal 4 hits, making it a good tool for dmg dealing. This ws can deal very high dmg, especially when paired with soul eater (this ws is drk only). A good ws at this point of the game, also usefull for starting a fragmentation sc.

    Cross Reaper : 2hit, more tp = more dmg
    This ws can close a lvl 3 dark sc. It’s damage can be quite high, especially when paired with Sneak attack/trick attack and soul eater can enhance this ws dmg even more. This is another great tool for the drk.

    Spirall Hell : 1hit, more tp = more dmg
    This ws can finish a lvl 3 dark sc. Dmg is lower than cross reaper at start, but if you have over 200% tp this ws will deal more dmg than it.

    Since drk got a A rating in both GS and Scythe, info on their end game ws come from the same player/thread.

      Just a couple notes.

      Power slash misses... a lot.

      Slice, even though it's more damage for more TP, doesn't stack well with sneak attack, if at all--unlike hard slash and similar WS.

          you're not gonna get that much dmg from stacking souleater with crossreaper or spinning slash since it's only 2/1 hits respectively. another reason why guillotine is good is because of the tp return, which makes farming faster

            Extra info that ground strike can close both light and dark lvl 3 sc is nice, but this still doesn't answer my main question about crescent and sickle moon.

              Crescent moon blows, the damage is weak.

              Sickle moon starts with crescent moon attack with the red spray, and follows up with a 2nd strike with a crescent shaped moon weapon trail appearing. Alot better, about 3-4times the damage of crescent (3times is more accurate)


              Damage for Cross reaper and Spinning slash is enhanced by souleater, no it is not a waste the damage is significant. Not so much so for spinning, but helps you break the 1000 barrier if your TP isnt above 200, which is pretty rare in and of itself.

              Soul+ cross reaper is more effective than Soul+ Spinning slash, and you easily break the 1000 barrier.

              e.g.

              Based on my high renkei procs

              between 100-200 tp (with fuidama of course)

              cross reaper -> 849 +darkness 849

              Soul cross reaper -> 1168 + darkness 1168


              Spinning Slash -> 780 light+ 1100

              Soul Spinning Slash -> 1085 + light 1525
              --

              And thanks to the low number of hits, you can immediately cancel soul and save your healer the mana it would take to heal you, if you used souleater + guillotine, which i find to be not a very good move in most cases.

                Thanks Sorath, just the info i was looking for.

                Soul eater is more potent with multi-hit ws since each hit of the ws will transfer 10% (15% with af helm) of your hp into dmg.

                So a Cross + soul eater is like adding a extra 300-400dmg since when paired with sneak a 2hit ws will more than often connect both hits.

                I used this technique a few time with my drk/thf, only 33, with sneak/sturmwind. A normal sneak/sturmwind could do 250 dmg and tossing a extra 100 from soul eater always make a good thing for finishing a sc.

                I'll update my guide with the extra info from this thread, i think i'll leave the soul eater comments out of it because it's mostly a drk thing, which is probably info more suitable for a drk guide.

                  I made a mistake on my faq, ground strike's damage (unlike spiral hell) is inferior to spin always, even with 300% TP. Also, it can never close dark skillchains, if you do gravity > ground, the fragmentation takes priority and it will do a level 2 fragmentation skillchain. The only place where the distortion property takes place is when used after another fragmentation WS (making level 2 distortion) or when used to START a level 3 dark skillchain, closing with a gravity WS.
