How Expensive is dark Knight?

If you want the best gear, you will be spending lots of money, regardless of what job you pick. I have spent around 2.5 - 3mill probably on Eq this far, it all depends if you want the "Best" gear, of just average. Af is shit, so you will probably want to save up for Haubergeon, or at least Hauberk + Thickset at 68/69..By that level, finding ways to attain the money needed for them, wont be hard anyways.

2x sniper ring = 600K
1x assult earring = 150K
1x royal guards collar = 140K
1x life belt = 80k
1x vassagos scythe = 200k
1x amemet mantle = 300k
1x spike earring = 50k
1x zweihander = 80K
Full set of spells (except Abs-DEX) = guessing about 150K.

Total 1.75 million spent on my DRK gear so far.

AF is free, but my set of Royal Knights gear is about another 400K (but I used my CP for them, so not too bad).

Still using Power Crossbow for ranged, but hoping to get Lightning bow eventually. So that's another 250K down the road.

Then there is the all mighty Hauberk, 2.5 million.

Not counting the truck load of kabobs I have ate... <burb>

I would've spent over 6 mil getting the same stuff you got. As it stands, it's still a while before I can equip them, so I won't think much about it. I do agree that DRK AF isn't all that great (My Hume F Gloves still is better than the DRK AF Gloves IMHO). However, doing the AF and getting the set allows you to "show off." What I wear for XP however, is an entirely different matter *ahem*

But that's farmed over the course of levels 35-55, so it's really not all that bad. Add to that the Vassago's 60k, Assault Earring 188k, Spike Earring 48k, Haubergeon 2.4M, and Amemet Mantle 200k, the total cost for the Uber equip at lv.61 will be a total of about 4M in equip. Again, it's not like you need 4M at once, so you have at least 20 levels to come up with that cash, and it's not all that difficult (except maybe the haubergeon). Just plan ahead for your sniper rings, 300k is a lot harder to come up with at lv.40 than it is at lv.55. All of the stuff for lv.68 (Thick armor) is actually cheaper than the R.K. set, but evens out since few people use the R.K. Boots, so basically, unless you're going for Hauberk+1 and Peacock Charm, 4M is all you ever need to farm.

I probably waste more money than I actually spend on gear. It's expensive, but if you spend some time farming, it's not bad at all. Lv.40+ 10k gil an hour is easy and mindless, 20k is totally doable, 30k is great but rare, 40k happens upon occasion if you're having a pretty lucky night. The nice thing is most of the stuff that's expensive you'll never get rid of, or you'll be trading it for something nicer (Haubergeon for Hauberk).

Up to lv.55, DRK is probably more expensive than BLM, but once they have to buy Flare, they're more expensive. Sucks to be them. RNG is way more expensive than DRK, not even really comparable. DRK is probably more expensive than some other Melees to not be gimped in the eyes of others. In reality, all melees are striving for about the same gear, so SAM/WAR are probably the same. I'd say MNK/DRG would be cheaper... but the scorpion harness (the only alternative to the haubergeon/hauberk with a godly acc boost) is nearly 4x the cost of the haubergeon, rolling in at a mere 7.5M on Midgardsormr.

To better that you could buy yourself a level 63 Bomb Core for the ammo slot. It gives +12 attack. Just make sure you don't throw it. Lol.

Bomb Core is going for about 800k-1 mill on Siren.... I wouldn't buy it though. The thought of accidentaly hitting ctrl+d and throwing 1 mill away scares me :sweat:

700K on cerebrus. Yeah, I can't imagine equiping that. Imagine some late night session, you hit the throw button, there goes 700K. AHHHHHHH, kill youself now!

I think better bet is get the Lightning bow. +2 Dex for standard one, +3 dex if you get the HQ +1. Can be used to pull, and you never have to worry about accidentally tossing it, and more Dex never hurts.

i almost always end up paying more than avg price because whenever i hit the AH for gear upgrades, the only stuff left in stock is the stuff that hasn't been bought because it's too expensive.

and...i think i bought my barbarian's scythe a few weeks ago.

I think every job can be both cheap or expensive.. it really depends how much you care about job and if you want to stand out from the crowd of others with the same job in your lvl range...
there are drk's out there around my lvl range with full AF and equipment under 1 million... they're not gimped per say, but if you compare drk's with expensive equipment and ones without, you'd see a noticable difference... not detrimental, but sometimes that 10 dmg per hit extra will make a difference in xp PTs and whatnot..

this is what I have atm at 63 for equipment... still don't have the bomb core yet.. not sure if it's wise to equip that, as I have heard people throw it by mistake.. @_@

total around 5 mil... so it could get quite expensive... but only if you want the best stuff for your lvl... spells, etc I don't think drk needs all the spells they can get their hands on... plus if you have a rdm or blm job at 30+, you'll most likely already have some of the spells needed...
