  • New DRK

I'm a Red Mage, and I recently made a new character (elf).

He's 25war/12mnk right now, and is going to be a dark knight.

My LS (and hence set PT members) tell me that 1-30, Great Axe
can be used effectively as well as scythe and Great sword.

I've been using Gswd and Scythe all through warrior, so i have time to lvl great axe, but i was wondering if there was any point to using great axe as DRK.

    So...is there? Thanks in advance

To be honest, at lower levels those alternate weapons (B) may be more effective. Scythe and GS's weapon skills are, simply put, horrible. Great Axe's breaks + sturmwind would be extremely powerful on DRK at low levels, and at around level 56~57, rampage from 1h axe is incredible. It all boils down to this one problem, however, and that is keeping the necessary weapons skilled up.

Though those weapons are useful, scythe and GS are still expected of you. When it comes to a time when you're expected to use them in a party, you're screwed. If you're a level 65+ warrior who has already pre-skilled 1h sword, 2h sword, scythe, 2h axe, and 1h axe all to the 200's, then you can go around offering them all to your parties, but otherwise I'd say don't; nothing's worse than having your essential weapon skills fall out of the loop without a good opportunity to skill them up.
