  • Problems With Groups at 50

I read a thread on another forum about a lvl 50 dark knight complaining that he cant find groups. His main agrument is that Dragoons and Samurai are being picked over him for groups because of penta thrust. Is this really true? Is it hard to do the 50-60 stretch because your under powered until 60?

    Yes.

Also, at this time there are few level 50 NA to party with. And the JP just plain aren't going to party with a NA damage dealer if you don't speak Japanese.

Best advice is to make your own parties, or gil farm until you can add things like "Accuracy + 20" to your search comment (you are using a search comment, right?).
BCNM40: 26(?) Wins, 1 Loss (On Asura and want guaranteed win? /tell Syk)
Syk (Mithra): 62 DRK, 37 THF, 30 WAR, 18 BLM
Khyze (Taru): 26 BRD, 30 WHM, 18 BLM

Ahh yes, How you doing Monoxcide? We grouped a few times in Kaz while you were still a Warrior.

Anycase I put my Drk to rest at 55 mostly for this reason. There are a good number of 50+ on our server.. but so many drk's/drg's etc.. that it became pointless. Seems a great deal of Na's switched to Sam/Drk/Drg that it destroyed the category of damage dealing. Because of this I put my drk to rest, Upped my Monk and am now Playing a War/Mnk. My friend whom was a Drg put that to rest and now plays a Bard/Whm.

Basically your running into a few problems 50+

      1. The masses of NA players are not at this level yet
      2. Not only are there a lot of Drk's *too many... on our server I can /lfg and see 7 drk's lfg at our level*, as well other dmg dealers
      3. At your level your not very compatible for renkei's *with Scythe*
      4. Other classes can and will outdamage you at this point..

Unfortuneatley besides the ratio of players dmg/other classes... there are far too many dmg dealing classes...

Where as other roles can only be done by 1-3 classes
      Ie
      Tank: Pld,Ninja,War
      Healer: Sum,Whm,Rdm
      Support, Rdm, Bard

      There are for dmg dealers
Drk,Monk,Drg,Rng,Blm,Sam,thf and even War/Bst/Rdm to an extent.

So you can see the problem with that.. and the fact that to every Tank there's like 2 Drk's, Drg,Sam,Mnk etc... you run into the problem of groups having too much of their pickings for dmg dealers.

If you do truly enjoy your drk though stick with it. I did enjoy mine, but I enjoy War enough that I was willing to play it in order to get more group offers *which i do 10 fold easy*

Although I must admit it is hard to give up a level 50+ class =/

That is realy bad to hear, I'm already having some problems getting a group at 40. I do have friends I group with regularly, but if they are not on, is very hard to get a group.

I have been using this time to level some other jobs, it seems I may have to use WAR sub before 50 for pickup parties.

Sometime I feel sorry for all the damage dealer out there. You guys seem to have such a hard time getting into groups. Most of the time when I seek a Party, I see tons of MNK, DRK, DRG, WAR , SAM and after I get into a group and return to Jeuno, its all the same guys I still see seek party. Its really sad, I just don't know how you guys do it.. When I started, I played WAR and I just couldn't stand all the waiting to enter in a Party, it was just too depressing

Yeah it's really hard to get invited to a pt after lvl45+ so if u r in a LS which has a lot of ppl within your lvl u should be fine otherwise start making friends arround your lvl otherwise u will be paying $12.99/month seeking pt for a long time.

Yeah I love my DRK but am having doubts about taking it any farther, too hard to get a group and while LS parties are fun they are getting ahead of me because when we are on at seperate times they can get a PT and I can't so they tend to get ahead of me. The other night I did a /sea all 40, 12 people on at level 40 6 where DRK, 2 DRG and one SAM, I almost deleted me character and quit my game right then....

actually, my server is ackward in the 50's, the DRGs suck for the most part (no shit, havn't pted with a DRG with a life belt yet) and can't land more than 2 hits with penta on avarage. the SAM's my lvl range? there's 1, other DRK's my lvl? not exping now, for the most part, only like 1-2 seeking w/ me. WAR's are very rare, BLM, WHM, and RDM are pretty easy to find, it's the PLD that's a pain

                    Indeed

It's depressing how PLDs have 100x easier time finding a party. There have been a few times when the party we got together disbanded simply because we can't get a PLD.

Thinking back, that makes me want to kick myself about choosing DRK over PLD when I turned 30.

hell, I think DRK is 10 times cooler than PLD (to me anyway), but god it's so hard to get a party.

I was lucky to have burned through lvl 40's with my LS, but they are all broken up now because some play mroe, some less, so the lvls are all spread out, the old LS party is no longer feasable. Really sad.

DRK is pretty gimped from lvl 50-59. We have no mult-hitting WS. So we get out damaged, so why invite us? If we try to make up for the damage short fall by using souleater, that puts extra healing drain on the party's MP, and make PLD like you less (heh, lazy plds, j/k), so why would they invite us. Unless you have lots of +accuracy equipment, you'll miss more than DRG (who gets an innate accuracy bonus), so why would they invite us.....

I mean, yeah, I can see why if I was the party leader, I would choose a DRG or SAM over a DRK at this stage..... But it just sucks on the receiving end.

Why pick a DRK? The coolness factor. I haven't had many problems yet, but I'm not even 40+. I do see alot of higher levels LFG for a while at atime.

lol yea.. you were talking about that Drg before. You're Vorpal was doing more dmg then his penta. XD

Midgard has a huge amount of lower lvl meleers though, The Drks that that I know at higher lvls, have taken "leave" for awhile and are now back in. Thing is, the more people that give up on Drk at not getting pt's means the better chance I have on getting a pt

But I still have a backup.... Static PT This time one that have members that wont lvl up ahead when told to wait.

yes i have to agree at this level is not easy to find a PT. you better have alot of friends or have a set PT. i tend to do alittle extral whenever im in a PT. setting up renkei, offer free food or juice since im working on my cooking, or be a puller.

and farming is really good to kill your time when you looking for PT just besure you dont run too far away from Jeuno when you seeking PT

Now let's look at the factors here though you guys. Sure, DRK have a super hard time at finding parties past lvl 40 basically, but if you think about it, So does everybody else!! Just not to the extreme state that a DRK has.

When you go /sea inv in jeuno...you hardly ever see anyone below lvl 25. And if you do, they are making their way to Qufim anyways. Normally there's like 20 or more lvl 40-60's, and maybe 4-5 lvl 70+'s.

At this point in the game, there is a small chance of finding a high lvl PT for NA players, because most NA players are still sitting in valkurm, or have just picked the game up. And most of the high lvl JP players don't really want to party with someone that has an E next to their name, because they can't understand a word they're saying, and because there is much more high lvl selection amongst JP players.

Although It will always be hard to find PT in high lvls...right now is kinda the "depression" period of it, because there isn't enough high lvl NA players. Don't quit you characters because you can't find a PT. Work on something else while you wiat.

Let me tell you the ABSOLUTE best thing to do while in your early levels of any class (DRK for me) to get consistent parties. MAKE ONLINE FRIENDS. I have no problem getting parties 95% of the time because throughout my leveling I made friends with alot of the people on my server. I have online friends that will wait until I log on to form a party and I do the same for them. One person I group with all the time will not xp hunt if I am not there. Having numerous friends helps if you happen to log on late after parties are formed because you will be the first in line to get in the different parties. Also be known to have good equipment. People who aren't your friends will remember you for this. If you cant afford the best gear for your level, at the very least you better have the best weapon available if you are DRK. Hope this helps.
